Fastfrwrd Use Case:
Your #cat has had #kittens. You want the siblings to stay close to each other so you let people in your #community #group know you are looking for a home for these kittens locally and wish to arrange playdates to keep the family together as much as possible. People let you know they want to adopt and you can tell from their profile references that they care about #nature and# animals and you feel safe letting these kittens go! -

META BUILT A CAGE.
PEOPLE ARE NOT THE PROBLEM 💎A lot of people replied to my post about Meta with very good reasons for still being on Facebook or Instagram.
Friends, family, small businesses with no other point of contact, dating, and community groups.
People living far from one another. Entire social circles that migrated there years ago and never really came back out.
I understand all of that.
So I want to make something clear.
I am not criticising the people who still use these platforms.
I AM CRITICISING THE SYSTEM that made ITSELF so SOCIALLY NECESSARY that leaving it can mean losing contact with parts of YOUR ACTUAL LIFE.
That is a very different thing.
A system can be harmful and still be useful.
It can even become difficult to leave precisely because it is useful.
That is part of its power.
People are not stupid because they use Meta.
They are often simply navigating the world as it CURRENTLY exists.
MY CRITICISM REMAINS WITH META.
With the MANIPULATIVE business model.
With the machinery designed to keep attention, harvest behaviour, shape what people see, and TURN HUMAN VULNERABILITY, ANXIETY AND FEAR INTO REVENUE.
If you are still on Facebook because your grandchildren are there, your mother is there, your local plumber is there, or your entire bloody bowling club refuses to move anywhere else, I am not coming for you.
I am talking about META.
The machine.
And the PEOPLE WHO BUILT IT.

Hey #Signal (or even #WhatsApp) users, how do you deal with #group chats that you create for the small group of friends involved in a particular event?
Do you somehow delete the group when the event is over, or do you just let it sit and fade into oblivion?
If someone else created the group, do you feel free to leave it? I feel a bit odd leaving a party without saying goodbye, especially when my departure is announced via notifications).

The Double Group Ride Morning
Reading Time: 2 minutesOn Saturday morning, for the first time in weeks I had no running plans so I decided to cycle to Geneva for the 8am relaxed ride to Crans. Since I live near Nyon I set off at 06:50 and cycled towards Geneva, arriving with plenty of time to spare. I then cycled with the group towards Crans. It’s at this point that I saw that I had half an hour before a second group ride.
I saw someone riding with a TDC jersey so that’s when I committed to riding with Tête de Course from Nyon up the Jura, and back down. I already had 51 kilometres in my legs.
I made sure to have a pain au chocolat and coffee before setting off with the group. Some of them were fresh, and I wasn’t quite as fresh. Luckily I had plenty of water and electrolytes.
There was one problem with my readiness. I had too few snacks with me, so I managed to hold on for most of the ride. Eventually I bonked right near the top. I bonked within two kilometres of the top so for a steep gradient I stopped, and walked. I was desperate for sugar, but because I was so far back I couldn’t ask the group for help.
When I got to the top of the climb I found that no one was there so I cycled back down solo and decided to stop at the Signy Shell station to get a snack or two. One of those snacks was a pralinato ice cream, which I ate while sitting in the shade.
It’s the first time that I bonked on a climb, and that I felt that I needed to walk, but I cycled 120 kilometres with 1800m of vertical gain. The ride to Geneva was at 27km/h average.
What got to me wasn’t the distance, but the persistent climb up the Jura with the second group. This weekend I had no plans, so I didn’t get snacks. That’s why I found myself cycling up the Jura with just one gel. If I had had two or three gels, or other “snacks” then I’d have refuelled and continued.
I suspect that I was dropped/forgotten because it was cold in the Jura, compared to the canicule Léman side. This isn’t a problem. By this point the route had loaded on my Garmin device and I know the way home from everywhere around here. I’ve cycled, run, walked and hiked in plenty of places.
I was struck by the number of people camping in the forest yesterday. One or two people had tents that linked to their cars, and others had a group of tents.
Of course, due to the drought people could not have fires due to the risk of forest fires. I think it would be nice to hike to one of these places, sleep overnight, and then continue.
When I set off in the morning I had no plans to do both rides, but serendipity made it possible. I also didn’t expect to do the full loop but I did. I ran out of energy but with better planning I would have coped with this amount of climbing, as well as the distance. This was a demanding ride.

Chapter Chats!
Photo by Thought Catalog on Pexels.comSince they were very little, my daughters and I’ve enjoyed “Chatter Chats” – these are really just chats about any and everything; time to focus on each other, and “catch up.” Conversations with them are the most precious memories I have. In fact, I love meaningful conversations. Conversations have the potential to inspire, to challenge, to teach, to entertain, to ultimately connect us with someone else.
I’ve spent the last week rereading River’s Rowan multiple times. It’s a complicated story. Reading it made me wish I could talk about it with others, and that made me think of the book club for “Ash” that’s starting next week. Thinking about that in person book club made me think of the virtual book club I’m a part of at our local library. That made me think, what if there was a book club for the Storytimers – the readers of the blog?
And so.. Chapter Chats was born: a virtual book club where we can read the same story a
Currently:
