I was at PravConf last week, I traveled like more than 100 hours in total for this (almost whole India). It was amazing.
- Clicked awesome pictures with @ravi
- gave talks,
- talked with lots of new people
- helped in organizing the conference
- cut stickers (some of them were not even used :neofox_pensive:)
- ran a workshop on hosting a xmpp server on raspberry pi along with @badrihippo :berd:
- showed cool android apps to folks
- flexed my keyboard ( it is invisible :ashinobu_dab:)
- showcased my keitai (flip phone)
- acquired transparent umbrella :neofox_sign_aaa:
- solo traveled to kanniyakumari :moomin_eyes:
- Had random fun with @contrapunctus @libreinator, Vishnu, Abhijeet, kannan, Ranjith, Ganesh, Nik :moomin_hattifatteners:
- had amazing south indian food
- made friends :moomin_flower:
- ate home made food (I felt so happy at that time)
- learnt so many new things“I was happy" :moomin_flower2:
I could go on and on, so let's stop here, but I would like to thank everyone who made me feel so welcomed there, especially @athulvis for just being there at every point and the food was awesome :tealheart:

@athulvis @badrihippo @untrusem It was great we could pull off this demo. I was not sure if the DNS part would work on not, hats off to Athul for figuring it out.
We can now use it as demo in any booth / stall we setup.
This can really make people think if they really need such a shitty deal with big tech companies just to be able to talk to each other.
Though next step of actually leaving big tech will need much more courage.

@prav is now declared stable for everyday use at #PravConf 26, Thiruvananthapuram!
We have been running it as public beta testing for over a year already.
We have been able to resolve issues we noticed during this and we are now confident to provide a reliable service for everyone.
Though we still have many more improvements in mind.

He shared his experience attending his first conference ever, a topic that resonated with the many students whose first conference ever was none other than #PravConf2026 itself! He also emphasised that one does not need to be a rocket scientist to contribute to Free Software. Fun fact: untrusem’s first contribution to #Prav was a simple removal of quotes from a page on the website

The first day of #PravConf2026 has concluded—and what a power-packed day it was! The conference was held at the St. Thomas Institute of Science and Technology (#STIST) in #Thiruvananthapuram (in #Kerala, #India). We also saw a large number of students coming in from neighbouring colleges, even braving a sudden burst of rain.

We prepared this at today's mini meeting.
We met at Athul's home and worked on some tasks like designing backdrop, deciding how many people we need to order food, fill in many talk proposals etc
Ordering food is a challenge because many time only a small number of people who registered actually turn up at the event.
Our registrations crossed 91, but we will see how many of them turn up #prav #xmpp

The immediate concern about this PR is resolved.
Sohail, who sent the PR agreed to rewrite it without using an llm.
So we are now working on an #llm policy for #prav contributions now.

This was generated using an #LLM and we don't yet have a policy on accepting or rejecting such contributions.
Currently the community is discussing formulating a policy on LLM generated contributions and meanwhile whether to give an exception to this particular contribution or not.

The Indian government has recently banned #Telegram for a week in India in the guise of preventing NEET exam paper leaks.
We believe this is a heavy handed action aimed at deflecting attention without solving the real problem. Banning apps on a whim like this goes against democracy and accountability.
As a messaging provider with operations in India, we condemn this action by the Indian government.
Telegram has approached the court and we hope that the courts will step in to fulfill their role of limiting the government overreach.
