#US #senators and #representatives made it a point to remind our #service members that they are required to disobey #illegal orders. I don't think I've ever heard that the Israeli #government #officieals direct their people to do the same.

One of the problems with #American pseudo-democracy is that it's a #gerontocracy - rule by the old. The average #Congresscritter is late-middle-age, and the average #Senator is dead. Young people are frustrated at their lack of voice.
#Canada isn't nearly as bad, but I fear it could trend in the same direction, so I've been thinking about solutions to the problem. I think I've got one that's better than the oft-floated fix of just imposing term limits on #elected office, because you'll probably still be first electing middle-aged people.
Instead, for each chamber, set a ceiling *average* age for members of that chamber. Maybe for the Canadian House of #Commons and the US House of #Representatives you want something like 40, while permitting the #Senate of each to be the "older, wiser house of sober second thought" by setting a number like 50.
Each day, the system automatically calculates the average age of members in that class, to account for birthdays etc. If birthday(s) suddenly push that average above the ceiling value, the oldest person in that class is automatically dismissed, leaving the position vacant to be filled by by-election / special election. Repeat until ceiling value achieved.
Here's the important bit: anyone turfed automatically this way does not receive a pension or other benefits; they're just gone. This gives them the incentive to resign before automatic expulsion; otherwise there's no reason for them to do so.

If you are an #American citizen, I consider it your DUTY to contact your local #representatives, #senators, congresspersons, and demand that Articles of #Impeachment be drawn and immediately be presented for a vote against #President #Trump for the illegal, un-#constitutional and un-American removal of a #dictator of another #country ( #Venezuela ) without a #Congressional Declaration of #War, as only #Congress may declare war as is stated in Article I, Section 8, Clause 11 of our #Constitution:

CALL them. Don't e-mail them. Don't mail them. Don't fill out their online forms. CALL them. Talk to them on the phone directly, or visit their local offices and meet with them in person. This needs to happen immediately, as soon as possible.
Because we all know, whether you're on the #right or the #left that one of Trump's greatest talents is in DELAYING our #legal system.
There is no more room for delay. This President needs to be not only impeached for this action, but removed from office, as soon as possible.
This is the last straw, a direct circumvention of the separation of powers, and a direct violation of our constitution, and his own #Oath of Office.

So now let's talk what we can do, as #activists, to #protest and weaken his power...
First off, now more than ever is the time to write your #representatives, #congress and #senate. And this time, don't hold back: go straight for #impeachment talk, even if it's #Republicans. They need to feel that support has collapsed, and that, if they are at all on the fence about impeachment, people in their district won't come out against them over it.
I see there are already #protests, good. If you can go to those, even to just be another body in the street, even to just chant "this is what #democracy looks like" or something, just showing up is a show of power.
And most importantly, get inside the argumentation for and against this: this is the time to be having conversations with remaining #Trump supporters, and every one of them we can get to see reason now is another one we don't have to counter moving into impeachment and midterms.
This is bad, but he just made a big mistake.
Capitalize.
