Tolhuistuin, Monday, September 14 at 07:00 PM GMT+2

What do you actually know about (your own) fertility?

This special evening puts the book Gaan we het hier nu al over hebben? at the center. The book was written by reproductive medicine physicians Odine Aandewiel and Merel van den Berg. Through music, personal stories, quiz questions and informative talks, a sometimes difficult and sensitive subject is approached in a light-hearted and accessible way. From the possibility of wanting children and the options available, to fertility problems, involuntary childlessness and rainbow families: no topic is left undiscussed.

Actor and singer Pepijn Schooneveld and artist Juliet will perform, while Anna Gimbrère will put the audience’s knowledge to the test! An evening filled with music, stories and important knowledge that everyone should really have received much earlier.

    Opening of doors: 18.45 uur

    Start: 19:00 uur

    Drinks: 20.00 uur

  3. Het Debuut

Felix Meritis, Wednesday, September 30 at 07:30 PM GMT+2

Night of the Living Dead (1968)

  5. La Resistenza Palestinese

Tra abbandono e supporto internazionale – talk

📍 Scambi Festival - Piazza San Costanzo, La Pigna, Sanremo
    📅 29 agosto 2026 · ore 17.30

Cosa significa resistere sotto occupazione?

Deve diventare presenza, sostegno attivo, pressione politica e responsabilità.

  6. Plum Road Tea Dream_The Hangout

    W139, Saturday, October 17 at 08:00 PM GMT+2

Plum Road Tea Dream_The Hangout is a relaxed performance centered around the autobiographical video game Plum Road Tea Dream created by artist Samuel Baidoo. The work explores how we can imagine new spaces for grief, healing, commemoration and transformation. Equal parts honest conversation, collective gaming session, tea ceremony and ritual, it invites audiences into an intimate but casual space of reflection and shared experience. For this edition of _The Hangout at W139 Samuel will enter into a dialogue with The Nature of Remembering initiating artist Lawil Karama.

Ticket: €10Student and solidarity ticket: €7,50

    Buy your tickets via Eventbrite.

Samuel Baidoo (they/them) is a creator, performer, game designer and mentor. Alongside their work in the Hanafubuki artist collective, Baidoo also works in various collaborative constellations and maintains their individual practice, which links autobiographical experiences to diverse performances through a constantly evolving archive of images, fragments of text, film stills, documentaries, musical pieces, or excerpts from series, films, games, or manga—popular culture has a special place in their heart.

Lawil Karama (she/her) is a Ugandan-Dutch conceptual artist born in former West Berlin and based in Amsterdam. Her work is deeply rooted in the diasporic experience, often drawing from her family history as a starting point for challenging conventional narratives and amplifying unheard voices. Karama’s creative path began in the world of special make-up effects, which continues to influence her approach, bringing a visceral understanding of form, surface, and psychological tension into her current work.

  8. Africadelic X Ventilator Cinema Memory of Princess Mumbi - NL Premiere

    OT301, Friday, October 2 at 06:45 PM GMT+2

    Genre: Drama
Line up: Shandra Apondi Abraham Joseph Ibrahim Joseph
    Open: 18:45 - 22:00 hrs
    Tickets: € 10

    Director: Damien Hauser
    Country: Kenya and Switzerland
    Year: 2025
    Length: 80'
    Language: English with English subtitles

    ABOUT THE FILM
Set in 2093, Memory of Princess Mumbi follows young filmmaker Kuve as he travels to the fictional African kingdom of Umata to make a documentary about the aftermath of a devastating war that led to the rejection of modern technology and a return to ancient kingdoms.
There he meets Mumbi, an aspiring actress who challenges him to make his film without artificial intelligence, relying instead on his own eyes, hands and imagination. As Kuve becomes increasingly fascinated by Mumbi and the world around her, his documentary gradually transforms into something more intimate.
Blending science fiction, romance and mockumentary, Damien Hauser’s inventive film explores memory, filmmaking and our relationship with technology, asking what remains distinctly human in a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence.
Shot in Kenya on a micro-budget, the film combines live action, green-screen techniques and AI-generated imagery. Hauser took on multiple roles, including writer, director, cinematographer, editor and composer, combining new digital tools with a handmade, independent approach to filmmaking.
Since premiering in the Giornate degli Autori section of the 2025 Venice Film Festival, Memory of Princess Mumbi has screened internationally at festivals including Toronto, BFI London, Zurich, Ghent and San Francisco. The film received the ZFF Critics Award at the Zurich Film Festival and the Golden Tulip for Best Film at the Istanbul Film Festival.
We are very happy to welcome Africadelic to Ventilator Cinema for this special screening and Dutch premiere.
