@athulvis @badrihippo @untrusem It was great we could pull off this demo. I was not sure if the DNS part would work on not, hats off to Athul for figuring it out.
We can now use it as demo in any booth / stall we setup.
This can really make people think if they really need such a shitty deal with big tech companies just to be able to talk to each other.
Though next step of actually leaving big tech will need much more courage.

On second day of #PravConf we demonstrated voice and video calls using a local wifi network.
@athulvis @badrihippo and @untrusem did a great job of pulling it together with #prosody running on a 500MB ram raspberri pi hanging on the podium of the stage!
WiFi netwok was created on untrusem's phone. Athul logged in via Monocles Chat and one of the participants, Sreedev logged in with Conversations.
It was fun when usb cable was pulled out live from the raspberri pi server.

This began numerous conversations that continued through our group photo session and all the way to lunch at the canteen where another shower had us raising our umbrellas

The first day of #PravConf2026 has concluded—and what a power-packed day it was! The conference was held at the St. Thomas Institute of Science and Technology (#STIST) in #Thiruvananthapuram (in #Kerala, #India). We also saw a large number of students coming in from neighbouring colleges, even braving a sudden burst of rain.
