Closed #platforms are the bane of my existence. What do you do when platforms like #Facebook become unbearable due to a rise of #hatespeech, #ragebait and #scammers but you can’t do much to move your #followers to another #platform, and you can’t seem to get followers at all on other platforms? Like Facebook is where most of my followers are, and I have no way to move them at all to another platform due to it being a closed platform. And seems most people on #BlueSky have quit because why do I never get any engagement despite having over 2K followers there?

As early as 2 years ago, many people in #Germany and #Europe felt that #BigTech ’s internet platforms did not live up to the claim of being #socialmedia. Many were appalled by the #hatespeech, #incitement, #cyberbullying, and #disinformation being spread there.
Our action alliance first reached out to #universities to propose withdrawing from #X and adopting #Mastodon. We believe the #Fediverse platforms are much better suited for #SciComm or, more broadly, for substantive discourse aimed at protecting and preserving our #democracy. Other initiatives have since emerged, such as #ByeByeElon, #HelloQuitX, #LeaveX, and #SaveSocial.We’ve already seen some initial success: around 150 #academic institutions in Germany are active on Mastodon and have +157k followers there

It’s a tough read.
TL:DR Canadians living in Tbilisi, Georgia while running the for-profit Alberta-registered company that owns *Entropy*, a social media platform that enables hate organizations to raise funds. About half of the hate groups in the US fundraise through them.

Mit einem besonders aggressiven Gegenüber ist ein Dialogversuch vielleicht wenig sinnstiftend, aber mir kam, ein Buch von Hasnain Kazim in die Hände, das zwar schon vor ein paar Jahren geschrieben wurde, das jedoch aktueller denn je erscheint und darauf verweist, dass es manchmal durchaus sinnvoll sein kann, selbst auf wütende Zuschriften zu antworten.
Titel: "Post von Karlheinz. Wütende Mails von richtigen Deutschen – und was ich ihnen antworte"
Wie viele andere, musste ich oftmals sehr lachen, aber es war zugleich ein bitteres Lachen!
Als Kazim beispielsweise auf eine der wütende Zuschrift freundlich reagierte, kam ein -Zitat-
"Sorry, ich wusste nicht, dass jemand die mails liest", zurück.
Oder ein anderer "Dialog" aus dem Buch
„Herr Kazim, Sie sind ein Schmierfink, der nur antideutsch denkt und schreibt! Ich habe noch nie etwas Vernünftiges aus Ihrer Feder gelesen, noch nie! Sie erlauben sich wirklich etwas, als Ausländer uns Deutsche belehren zu wollen in Ihrem überheblichen Ton! Komm du Schreiberling zu mir, dann zeige ich dir, was ein echter Deutscher ist!“
Unter diese Zeilen schrieb ein Karlheinz S. seine volle Adresse und bekam Antwort von Hasain Kazim:
„Lieber Herr S.,
haben Sie vielen Dank für Ihre Nachricht!Ich freue mich sehr über Ihre Einladung, sehr gerne komme ich zu Ihnen. Da ich zufälligerweise mit meiner Familie (Großeltern, Eltern, Geschwister, drei Ehefrauen, die vierte konnte nicht, die liegt gerade im Kreisssaal und kriegt unser sechstes gemeinsames Kind), acht Kindern, 17 Cousinen, 17 Cousins und 22 ihrer Kinder) ohnehin in Ihrer Nähe auf Urlaub bin, würde ich gerne gleich am Sonntag, 4. Dezember, vorbeischauen und mit Ihnen Advent feiern.
Wir alle freuen uns sehr, von Ihnen zu lernen, was ein echter Deutscher ist!
