when late winter returns
home your inmate
in your nightgown
with your candle kneel
beside your bed and shiver
after you go to bed
after you go to sleep
when the horizon's become a purse
that today's early summer's
returned her sun to
when the warm breath
of today's spring's been
expelled from your chamber into the
late winter's dawn at dusk
the cold air seeps into your cell through
gaps between the casing and the shutter
between the door frame and the door
through cracks
in mortar and masonry he oozes
in inhaled
the late winter returns
home not to warm you out of your bed
but to freeze you in -

📚 Station Eleven by: Emily St. John Mandel
Kirsten Raymonde will never forget the night Arthur Leander, the famous Hollywood actor, had a heart attack on stage during a production of King Lear. That was the night when a devastating flu pandemic arrived in the city, and within weeks, civilization as we know it came to an end.
Twenty years later, Ki...

I've finished: I Cheerfully Refuse by Leif Enger
While I Cheerfully Refuse hits most of the usual post apocalyptic genre tropes, it is no regular post apocalyptic adventure novel.
Rainy is a quietly competent protagonist, and viewing this dystopian world from his perspective is what setts this novel apart.
Reminiscent of Station 11, it is a more literary work.
Literally (Actually) pitting Rainy and Lark, with her used book shop, against the illiterate anti-intellectualists.

his age by a historic injury

In a quest to bore readers to tears, #Claude #Fable 5 gifts us a torturous, line-for-line #translation of Homer’s classic, ensuring every comma and semicolon is lovingly preserved for those who have nothing better to do. 🤓 Each of the Odyssey's 12,107 lines is meticulously annotated, because who doesn't want a tedious #academic apparatus with their bedtime story? 📚💤

~ Must-Read ~
Which #Literary Classic would you recommend for someone to read at least once in their lifetime? -
It's been fascinating learning from author Amra Pajalic as to how she's used writing and small business grants to propel her writing career in both fiction and non-fiction. It's also been fun diving into her creative works - love the anthologies she's been a part of too.
Has anyone else had literary/creative/small biz success by pursuing grants? would be great to hear from you.

"I don't know how other people do it, not stay with the girl whose ankle socks made your stomach flip at age 14, whose wet hair smells like your past – – the girl who was with you the very moment you were introduced to happiness."
