Cracking day out on the South Island Randonnée although numbers were way down on last year's event. On the plus side I didn't miss the May Bank Holiday traffic queues where the route crosses the approaches to Ryde. 1st Bleed Control Kit at #IsleOfWight to be installed outside #Nationwide Building Society Branch

The plans form part of a major initiative by Nationwide Building Society to provide #defibrillators and #bleed control kits at every one of its branches by the end of the year, making it the first banking provider to carry out such a scheme across its entire network.

As there seems to have been another uptick in participation here, a quick summary #introduction (fuller one is pinned). I'm a UK-based (Londoner now living on #isleofwight) folklorist. Started off interested in #folksong, spread to wider interest in #folk #folklore.

Currently on the Council of the Folklore Society, Associate Editor of its journal Folklore, & on the editorial board of #FolkMusic Journal. Until end of year I'm Research Fellow on #FolkloreWithoutBorders research network on EDI in British folkloristics.

Nice review of Jeremy Harte's new #folklore book, driven by his fascination with 'devil' toponymy.

Full disclosure: I serve with Jeremy on the #FolkloreSociety Council, and he's a mate, but that doesn't affect him actually being one of the most effortlessly and incessantly fascinating people you're ever likely to meet.
