You know you're getting old when the digital camera you bought brand new might now be considered vintage.
I've given my old Canon EOS 400D over to my daughter so she can start learning the fundamentals of photography: aperture, shutter speed, ISO… all the things smartphones quietly take care of for you.
I thought we'd start with something instantly rewarding: long exposures and light trails.
These are a few shots I took on my iPhone (balanced on a wobbly mini tripod). Ula's photographs with the DSLR and a proper tripod are considerably better.

1st Bleed Control Kit at #IsleOfWight to be installed outside #Nationwide Building Society Branch
The plans form part of a major initiative by Nationwide Building Society to provide #defibrillators and #bleed control kits at every one of its branches by the end of the year, making it the first banking provider to carry out such a scheme across its entire network.

Spotted this beauty last night…
The mighty Hillman Imp — my parents’ first car back in the late ’60s.
Rear-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive too… a layout shared with the Porsche 911. Just with slightly less oomph (and a much smaller price tag).
Once a common sight on British roads: affordable, economical, compact and full of charm and character.
Now a much rarer sight.

The town of #Cowes on the north side of the #IsleOfWight functions as the main #port for passengers from the #Mainland. It is bisected by the mouth of the #RiverMedina, which forms a cleft in the #Island. To cross from one side to the other, instead of the #bridge, the town has a small #Ferry guided by chains, which works all day and late into the evening to transfer pedestrians and road users from one side to the other.

Booked ourselves a little treat for next month (we'll pretend it's for my birthday even though we don't buy presents) and it will be a second attempt to sail around the Isle of Wight on the world's last seagoing paddle steamer, Waverley. Tried in 2022 but ended up spending the day in Yarmouth instead owing to some engine issues. Lovely, old vessel with an open engine room to the pistons and paddles.

The wreck of the #SSCarbon is visible at low tide at #ComptonBay on the #IsleofWight
My husband has photographed it many times over the years, he took this more recent shot a few months ago using his drone. This little tug boat ran aground in 1947 and fortunately no lives were lost.

This view across the #Solent is only a few minutes walk from home.
Taken by my husband from the #IsleofWight you can see #Portmouth across the water with the #SpinnakerTower illuminated. The Tower is often lit in varying colours so you never know what to expect each evening!
This old jetty got damaged in a storm and has recently been rebuilt.
