Updated the firmware of my #RME Digiface USB and also ticked the "CC Mode Active" box so that it's now a class compliant device. Ardour has no issues with it but PulseAudio on my Debian 12 system refuses to talk to it.
I kind of expected this as the USB ID stayed the same so the driver stack is still using the quirks introduced with the 6.12 kernel. That doesn't add up I guess. Probably best to flash the firmware again and untick the "CC Mode Active" box before flashing.

I have recently started experiencing occasional short dropouts in music playback via my #usb #rme #fireface #audiointerface on #arch #linux.
This is what journalctl says whenever such a dropout occurs:

Maybe a RME Digiface USB would be an option to use for rehearsal room recordings so that I can keep the Babyface at home. It is supported now since kernel 6.12: https://forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.php?id=40531
It also offers the possibility to connect up to 4 8-channel ADAT units. That should be more than enough IO for a 5-piece band.

Hi @terjefjelde what do you think of the RME Babyface so far?
I've been looking into the #FocusRite 18i20 as well, but have my doubts..Reviews for #RME products are all full of praise.
Do you use the FocusRite as an ADAT extension for the RME now? Or don't you need more then 4 inputs.

Wie ich so gerade am Froschen (in IT-Sprech: Forschen) mit diversen Aufnahme-Möglichkeiten für diverse Instrumente war, dachte ich an @andijah und ihre Low-Whistle.
Und da hab ich gedacht, Du hast mir Deins gezeigt, ich zeig Dir meins.
Alu-#TonyDixon mit Plastik-Kopf, der durch eine Querflötenvariante ausgetauscht werden kann und außerdem kann man ihn verschieben zum Stimmen.
Da das Mic (Neumann TLM102) sehr „schillernd“ sein möchte, habe ich über 8,5khz etwas Air rausgenommen, außerdem Yamaha REV-X als Hall.

My RME UCX audio interface has died after 11 years of service. I’ll probably replace it with the UCX II, but I’m interested in alternatives. Arturia’s AudioFuse 16Rig looks suitable for my studio (mostly line level, some synths & CV, a couple of mics) but it uses the default Core Audio driver (on Mac). Is that good enough?
What other audio interfaces do people recommend?

Thank you @PaulDavisTheFirst for those RME Linux drivers... they served the community brilliantly for so many years!
Today I'm once again leaving Windows behind (https://io.waxandleather.com/@composergreg/112701684980528429) and will attempt to rely on 8 channels from an older (previously retired) RME UFX running in class compliant mode coming from the DM1000. Good news is that with 3 optional ADAT cards, the DM1000 handles 48 simultaneous channels!

My #rme #fireface #ufx only offers 12 of 22 inputs in #usb #classcompliant mode on #linux. I can only use all 22 inputs if I use the pro audio profile. Unfortunately I get digital artifacts with the latter. #linuxaudio
Luckily I do not need all the inputs in parallel. 🫣 -
Almost gave up on looking for a usable (configurable) realtime spectrogram analyzer for Windows, to then stumble across Friture!
Neat visual assist for tuning pitch between a set of loops for a car engine, rich with harmonics and challenging overtones.
Running #Friture with #RME loopback enabled, to capture live audio from #Wwise.

TIL that for very flexible minimal-latency Input/Output routing of #audio signals, buying a (analog or digital) #mixer with multiple buses seems like the obvious choice, but there are also (USB) audio interfaces which support internal routing! For example #Arturia’s #AudioFuse line, or the #RME #Fireface UCX. Once configured, they can even run without a computer. Some even have internal EQ & FX.
Now, is there one with internal #sidechain compression? I’d _love_ that. Any suggestions?
