With everything now apparently converging at being a flavor of PCIe for interconnecting devices, are there already some PCIe "firewalls" that you can put inline to filter what devices can and cannot do on the bus?
I know IO-MMU exist but not sure that helps when stuff does not even have to go through the mainboard anymore to communicate with each other...

Полтора месяца зависаний, ноль дампов и 44 байта нулей
Полтора месяца моя рабочая машина умирала. Не BSOD, не перезагрузка — именно умирала: экран чёрный, вентиляторы на видеокарте выходят на сто процентов и так и остаются. Никакой реакции ни на что. Только кнопка Reset. Сначала раз в неделю. Потом два. К середине июля — три раза за сутки. Но хуже самих зависаний было другое: после них не оставалось ничего. Ни дампа, ни минидампа, ни BSOD, ни единой записи WHEA. В журнале — Event 41, Kernel-Power, «система была перезагружена, завершив работу некорректно», BugcheckCode = 0 . Windows даже не успевала понять, что умерла. Отлаживать нечего. Есть только труп и никаких улик. Забегая вперёд: виновата оказалась не память, не драйвер и не блок питания, хотя я последовательно подозревал всех трёх. Виноват был PCIe Gen5. Лечится одним пунктом в BIOS. Полтора месяца.

I'm still sad that I apparently damaged my old Asus Pro WS X570-ACE motherboard when removing the CPU (due to failed cooler). There aren't any good AM4 motherboards now. The gamer ones don't support ECC UDIMMs, and the cheap ones that do support ECC have poor PCIe configurations. I need 3 x8 PCIe slots.
I ended up with a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite. It supports ECC, and has 3 x16 slots, but the actual lanes to the x17 slots are x16, x4, and x1.
