  1. Good news: #linuxaudio

I asked Push and Groove if their FILTRONIX plugin will also be available for Linux.

    Here is their response:
"Yes, absolutely. I am currently working on it and planning to release both Linux and Mac versions within this month. Please stay tuned!"

    Plugin Information:

  2. Hey y’all. Question for all the sound designer folks out there… what tips, tricks, workflows, or plug-ins have made your life easier?

I’m getting back into sound design with a song I’m working on and honestly, I forgot how much fun this stuff is. Been experimenting with movement, space, textures, transitions, automation, all of it.

I’ve heard of plug-ins that can make sounds feel super immersive and almost “3D” around your head. I know Logic Pro has built-in spatial audio tools and binaural stuff. Curious what y’all are using these days, especially for:
    • Easy automation workflows
    • Creative movement/panning
    • Ambient textures
    • Sound transitions
    • Accessible workflows if any blind producers are on here

I’m doing this project in REAPER right now and just wanna learn from everybody’s setups and experiences.

  3. Hey guys. Curious what methods on Windows y’all are using for this. Let’s say I have a huge library of sound effects on a drive… what are y’all using to sort through everything easily, search by keywords, preview sounds quickly, and still do all the normal copy/paste and file management stuff?

I know about REAPER’s Media Explorer, but I honestly haven’t used it in a long time. Just wondering what else is out there these days, especially anything accessible and fast to navigate.

  13. After 14 years I installed Ubuntu on a PC again. Chose because I want to play music and use real-time guitar effects.
So far: kernel panics, broken updates, and hours wasted configuring my M-Audio sound card.
I was almost starting to regret it... 🫩

  18. I'm making a thing, and now, as one does, I must tell people about it, or no one will ever see (hear) it.

Track 2 from my AarDHD project is almost finished. Here's a video of me listening to it on four different speakers, because that's how music production works, and I'm going with it.

Sound nerd! What's a sound you feel is underappreciated? Do you have any favorite sounds?

Ha! Ummm… Honestly got me thinking like an ASMRtist here. I've always loved the sound of water being poured into cups, the way the pitch goes upward is really nice. Also, steel wool being crumbled sounds cool. I've used both in songs before, but they're also nice ASMR triggers.

Oh, obligatory cat purr because duh. Also some cars have oddly satisfying clicks when activating the turn signals, I've found.

  24. Just made a beat using Logic Pro's Alchemy's spectral image synthesis. A friend sent over some photos he took making shadows with a flashlight, and I imported them directly as spectral sources. Images 2 and 3 ended up giving me this glitchy flute sound with a sub bass underneath and a strange stereo image I didn't plan at all. Turned out way better than expected for a first go. #musicproduction #alchemy #sounddesign #beat #LogicPro

  29. Apple's take on lossless audio hints at a downward spiral. While it is true that many people don't have hearing, systems or headphones good enough to hear the difference, it does have a lot of importance to those who mix and master, or want to learn those skills accurately.

It is a lot like saying, ah, most people don't know how to punctuate sentences these days, so we intend to stop punctuation ... and then communication gets confused and muddier.

It is about something being the best it can be. I'm really not a fan of the USA trumpeting being 'great again' while eroding standards to the lowest it can get away with. Do better.
