In 2020 when I got really into audio production, I bought a bunch of plugins from Waves Audio. Mind you, this was when I was in undergrad and in the height of a pandemic so spending money on plugins was not something I did without putting thought into it.

Now in 2026, I've decided to get back into doing audio production on my Macbook after using Linux for years and getting increasingly frustrated. So I decide to go download my plugins again. What do I find? All of my plugins say "Expired in November 2021" (A year after I "bought" them) and to "Renew" them all for one year is $44 USD. What the actual hellscape do we live in. I'm fairly confident I can dig and find some open source plugins that are just as good, because fuck subscriptions and fuck capitalism.

Anyone using Kontakt 8 on a Mac with VoiceOver?
I'm trying to use VOCR to access the File menu so I can run Batch Re-save on my libraries, but I'm stuck. Nothing happens when I activate the File menu button. VOCR never sees the drop-down menu—it only detects my libraries and presets.
Has anyone figured out a way to access the File menu with VoiceOver, or found another accessible method for running Batch Re-save? I'm running Kontakt in standalone.

I've got an old laptop with a mini 1394 port and an #Alexis Multimix (12?) mixing board. It works fine and I don't really need more right now. Might get a PCI-E to FireWire adaptor card for my old desktop partially just because. There is a small advantage to it over USB.

idk how much more I'll obtain. It's cheap. lol

What's better is #MADI, #DANTE, #ADAT direct to PCI-E. Use Cat6+ if you've really got that many channels.

Had a nice recording session last week for a new Slam Metal band. Entire production on #bitwig using #Linux. Worked perfectly with their #RME Digiface USB without any driver install needed. Even less work than on macOS where the driver install is a multi part process. Love the #Kali LP-UNF's as my traveling setup for an extra pair of 'known' ears to A/B between! #audioproduction

Finally got around to updating the simple audio shaping plugin that I've been maintaining over the years.
