In continued experiments with #VCVRack2, I've been learning a lot about Frequency Modulation and how to use various fundamental modules. I've also accidentally created a creepy, distorted generative drone and some harsh, growly instruments / voices that I've collectively dubbed The Slow Hate Machine. 2022 Germany pressingAn unusually LATE late-night (or in this case EARLY MORNING) spin.
Been having real trouble sleeping the last few weeks (for reasons far too boring to get into here), so I’m continuing my “rediscovery” of the latter-day, more #ambient Sam Prekop records with The Sparrow.
There were only 700 vinyl copies of this record made; a very quiet, abstract, melodic album birthed from Prekop’s modular #synthesizer .
It’s reminiscent of Eno’s ambient albums in that it’s very warm & atmospheric, with no vocals, & more of a sense of sound and environment than traditional “songs”.There’s only 5 songs, but the album’s opening title track clocks in at just over 17 minutes, setting a tone for a very inviting & gentle listening experience.
“Every Night” is my favorite track here, for HOW gentle it is, like a song from a child’s mobile.

Gestern und heute habe ich mich mal ein wenig mit #synthesizer beschäftigt. Hauptsächlich weil ich es Leid bin, jedes Mal erst den Rechner zu booten und mein Launchpad anzuschließen, um meine Ideen direkt in der #DAW zu testen. Irgendwie bin ich beim #Modal #Cobalt8 gelandet und überlege, ob ich mir den kaufe. Hab allerdings gesehen, dass die Firma letztes Jahr in die Insolvenz gegangen ist und die Umstrukturierung gerade erst abgeschlossen wurde. Ob das wohl die richtige Wahl ist?
