🧵 … needless to say, I remember having recorded samples from my #Elka E9 #organ. But I can't find them anywhere. They're not on any SSD, not on any blue-ray, DVD or CD.
I had bought this 1984 organ for 1€ from Ebay, in full working condition, somewhen in the 2005 or so. It never was not crap, sound-wise. When I sold my parents' house, I had tro trash it because it took too much space and nobody would want it.
But today that crap is has become cool again. Especially these nasty analog #synthesizer drum computers that are in these things.

I love #DecentSampler. I use it quite a bit on #UbuntuStudio #Linux.
I considered using it live, and the easiest option seemed to be using an old #iPad. I had some of these very old ones running #ios 12.x, and it had enough power. Yet, today, after an update of DecentSampler, all I get is a black screen instead of the app.
Sad story. Of course, #Apple fans will now tell me to f*** off with old hardware and shut up. But I still find this disappointing, I mean… the hardware was fast enough, and it was simple, compact and easy to use with a CMI WIDI Thru6 BT MIDI interface.
Looks like I'll have to use some old laptop with Linux for this. I want to have a dedicated machine for this. This iPad used to be exactly that.
I do own more recent iPads, but these are reserved to my #EventTech work.

The beauty of FM: Sweeping the modulation index ratio from 1 to 100 on a carrier running at 200Hz and modulator at 800Hz. One of the things you can see clearly here is how the sidebands “wobble” as the modulation index is increased. It’s a rather complex pattern which can be understood using the Bessel functions often mentioned in literature about FM. No effects used, just two sine wave oscillators.
