Is there something wrong with the #Kxstudio website? It has been several days since I could access it.

Just discovered #cardinal https://cardinal.kx.studio/ by KXStudio: a virtual modular #synthetizer based on #VCVrack (which I already knew).
#kxstudio is really an awesome repository of computer #music software (applications and plugins), easily installable on #debian and #ubuntu

does anyone know how to use carla-vst-wine? i'm trying to use it with #FLStudio but i can't get it to work. i'm on #NixOS, musnix is installed as a flake (i think, i have musnix.enable = true in my config and it didn't error out), and i have the carla package installed

i've tried putting the files from /usr/lib/winvst/ from this .deb (direct download) into ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Common Files/VST2/, ~/.vst2/, and even a folder i created myself, /usr/lib/winvst/. i also tried all of them at once, idk what to do

@kawaiipunk True. Just learned about #KXStudio a minute ago while I was looking what the #Swami project (http://www.swamiproject.org/) is doing currently.
#Carla (https://kx.studio/Applications:Carla) seems quite impressive.

@falktx has been doing some incredibly valuable, dedicated and important work in the work of #LinuxAudio / #FLOSS audio over the years, in particular with the #KXStudio project.

also, hardware support improved with ALSA and JACK. today most of USB audio interfaces are working out-of-the-box, but it's always good to check online before buying, trying...

@draco @ubuntustudio ah ok. That might explain it, perhaps. Then you might need to visit also #kxstudio irc channel. Personally i would never update everything from kxstudio on top of UbuntuStudio. I would be afraid that too many things break. Although there might be efforts for compatibility. I would just pull something extra that I know I need from their repo.

Also is #Ardour from ardour.org or from repos? I use one from the site.

Important update for KX Studio users!

The package `zynaddsubfx-git` in the KX Studio repositories has replaced the old `zynaddsubfx` package - which now comes with the new Zyn-Fusion interface.

So if you install `zynaddsubfx` - you'll get ZynFusion :)

And that mastering compressor is pretty awesome and better than proprietary ones too.

It seems like it's a lot easier to get what I want done in #ardour #foss #bitwig than any of the main proprietary applications which seem to just ask for more than I can give to do basic things
