  1. I have recently started experiencing occasional short dropouts in music playback via my #usb #rme #fireface #audiointerface on #arch #linux.

    This is what journalctl says whenever such a dropout occurs:
    ```
    pipewire[1606]: spa.alsa: front:0p: snd_pcm_drop: No such device
    pipewire[1606]: spa.alsa: front:0p: close failed: No such device
    gsd-media-keys[1865]: Unable to get default sink
    ```

    Do any of you know where I could start to look for potential causes?

  2. @nielso @patricklang I use a #rme #fireface UFX with an ADI-8 DS MkIII connected via #adat and can use 18 input channels with #pipewire. I have heard that other people have problems with RME on #linux, but for me it works like a charm.

  7. My #rme #fireface #ufx only offers 12 of 22 inputs in #usb #classcompliant mode on #linux. I can only use all 22 inputs if I use the pro audio profile. Unfortunately I get digital artifacts with the latter. #linuxaudio
    Luckily I do not need all the inputs in parallel. 🫣

  12. TIL that for very flexible minimal-latency Input/Output routing of #audio signals, buying a (analog or digital) #mixer with multiple buses seems like the obvious choice, but there are also (USB) audio interfaces which support internal routing! For example #Arturia’s #AudioFuse line, or the #RME #Fireface UCX. Once configured, they can even run without a computer. Some even have internal EQ & FX.

    Now, is there one with internal #sidechain compression? I’d _love_ that. Any suggestions?

  13. @Matjoe @itsfoss I feel like #linuxaudio has made a lot of progress over the last couple of years. Not only in terms of #plugins available natively (see e.g. linuxdaw.org/) but in particular because of #pipewire. If you want to give it another try I'd be there to help (if I can). 🫣️🙂️ PD: I sold my arsenal on UA interface and accelerators and went on to an #rme #fireface #usb #classcompliant interface with an AD extension unit and never looked back. 🤓️
