The DR-40XP consumed a set of batteries in 4-5 days sitting on my desk. Three times. And then I realized it had a rattle. Preamps sounded good - big improvement over the prior model, and more importantly they actually shielded the mics on this model so they weren't picking up every phone within 50 feet. For comparison, I am in love with my TR-8S. Hardware controls for every damn thing, sequencer is intuitive, but it's definitely a more limited machine than the Digitakt II.
