Nigh on 53 years and I just learned I have been loading butter knives into the dishwasher incorrectly for all of them. TTW I'm about to go to bed, and then I discover that Past Me decided make sure I (we?) wouldn't skip out on the domestic chores by leaving the clean laundry on the bed. So that Present Me (we?) wouldn't be able to go to bed until it was put away in its proper drawers.

I know laundry isn't supposed to be *that* much of a horrible chore, but it's one that somehow, I have trouble with.

Luckily there was enough ingredient overlap and the timing all worked out that it all came out hot at the same time. 12yo helped a lot.
(I had some yogurt and almonds and a little bit of eggs. I ate them hurriedly over the sink while cooking, like an animal.)

Today I’m catching up on #domesticity in general. Cooking, cleaning, tidying.
I’m making a thing called “tamale pie” which is basically a bastardised chili con carne with lots of random veggies in it, and cheesy polenta on top a la shepherd’s pie. My housemate who “doesn’t like Mexican food” loves it — though this is, of course, in no way surprising as this is a long way from actual Mexican food 😂 I’m going to bake a few of them in smaller pans and freeze some.
My #kombucha has got into a state of extreme sourness with the hot weather, so I’m feeding it lots of sweet tea and drinking as much as I can to keep making room for more.
I’ve got the #slowcooker on with a batch of pork bones (from my ethical/sustainable meat CSA (#CommunitySupportedAgriculture), onion, ginger, and star anise, to make an Asian-style pork stock that I freeze in batches the right size to make an easy bowl of noodle soup whenever I want.
And I’ve got milk that needs using, so I’m going to go pick up a cauliflower and make cauliflower #MacAndCheese, again a big batch, and freeze some of it.
I might have to shift some stuff around in the freezer to make room… wish me luck!

Greek custom required that as the goddess of sacrificial #fire, Hestia should receive the first offering at every sacrifice in the household (as in throwing best part of your favorite food into the flame).
