  1. Mein #Kombucha ist fertig. Ich habe blöderweise vergessen rechtzeitig neuen Tee anzusetzen. Das habe ich jetzt nachgeholt. Morgen wird ein neuer angesetzt.
    Und einen neuen #Kefir habe ich auch gerade angesetzt. Den letzten trinke ich gerade.
    Und weil ich schon dabei war auch gleich nochmal neuen #Joghurt angesetzt. 😋

  7. Mein zweiter #Kombucha ist gut geworden. Nicht zu sauer, nicht zu süß. Der mit Apfel einer zweiten Reifung unterzogene Kombucha ist nun auch lecker. Die starke Säure ist weniger geworden und er hat ein wenig Kohlensäure bekommen. Der dritte Kombucha ist gestartet. Wie geplant nur mit dem #Scoby drin. Ich bin gespannt.

  8. Kurz zu Hause nach dem Schwimmen um zu frühstücken.
    Ich habe mal eben noch schnell meinen 2. Ansatz #Kombucha probiert. Der ist schon fertig. 😳 Gut, dass ich probiert habe.
    Also gleich noch eine Kanne Tee gekocht. Der ist heute Abend, wenn ich nach Hause komme kalt. Dann starte ich meinen 3. Kombucha. Ich setze den dann ohne Starter an, da ich schon einen schönen #SCOBY aus den ersten beiden Ansätzen habe. Mal sehen, ob der genug Power hat. Wenn nicht, dauert es etwas länger. Das macht aber auch nix. Ich habe ja noch meinen ersten Kombucha hier. Der, der mir zu sauer geworden ist und den ich dann mit einem fein geschnittenen Apfel in die zweite Reifung geschickt habe. Den werde ich heute Abend kosten. Sollte auch fertig sein.

    "Gardeners and orchardists are invited to bring their #seeds, #scionwood and #cuttings to share. If you don’t have any, come anyway! There is always plenty of seeds and scion to go around.

    If you’ve been to the event before, you know that space can get tight at the start of the event. We encourage folks to join the event later in the day — we promise, there are still plenty of seeds and scions available over the duration of the event!

    Community members and local seed #growers regularly bring an incredible variety of #vegetable, #fruit, #flower, and #herb seeds. We also regularly have over 150+ types of scionwood to share, including scionwood sourced from MOFGA’s orchards. We will also have limited quantities of #rootstock for sale. Custom #grafting is available by donation to the #MaineHeritageOrchard.

    Other items for sharing are welcome such as plants, cuttings, #seedlings, hatching eggs, #kombucha and #YogurtStarters, #salves and other homemade items.

    The day’s offerings also include #gardening and #orcharding workshops and demonstrations. Our full list of educational offerings for the day is coming soon!"

  10. Seems like I spend a lot of my time at home encouraging the (yum!) fermented stuff - #kefir #kombucha #pickled stuff - and discouraging the (yuk!) #moldy stuff. #Mildew be gone!

  11. Ich habe mehrere Gefäße in denen ich Kambodscha mache: einmal aus Grüntee einmal aus Schwarztee. Die Kulturen vermehren sich und ich suche eine gute Verwendung dafür. Sie über meine Kanäle anzubieten stieß nicht auf Nachfrage, für Kompost oder Blumenerde sind sie mir zu schade. Frisch gebraten oder gekocht finde ich sie nicht attraktiv, also suche ich #Rezepte.

  13. Auf @3sat läuft gerade etwas über #Fermentation. Finde ich ja faszinierend.
    Aber das einzige, was ich hinbekomme ist selbst gemachter #Kefir und #Joghurt. #Kombucha werde ich auch noch anfangen. Den Pilz besorgt mir ein Kumpel.
    Ich habe ich mal probiert verschiedene Gemüse zu fermentieren. Ging komplett schief. Davon lasse ich die Finger.

    Den würde ich durchaus lieber an Interessierte weitergeben.

  19. #Naan dough rising, to be cooked tomorrow. Used up the last of my homemade Greek yogurt. These naan are destined for pizza bases when the wife's family visits this weekend. We'll see if any of my in-laws are brave enough to try my #kombucha.

    #Scoby steht für "symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast". Diese Kultur fermentiert gezuckerten Schwarztee zu #Kombucha, einem süß-sauren, leicht prickelnden und ganz schwach alkoholhaltigen Getränk (die genauen Eigenschaften hängen u. a. von der Dauer der #Fermentation ab). Leckeres Zeug. 🙂

  23. Mein #Scoby wächst und gedeiht, ich musste ihn inzwischen mehrmals etwas dezimieren (Reste gehen getrocknet beim nächsten Umtopfen in die Pflanzerde für die Zimmerpflanzen).

    Falls jemand mal (frühestens wohl wieder in ein paar Wochen) welchen haben möchte, geb ich gerne ab, entweder gegen Versandgebühr oder bei persönlicher Übergabe gratis.

  24. @DrKen my understanding of kombucha (and I freely admit I am new to this rodeo) is that it is tea fermented with a symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast, or #Scoby. In the case of #kombucha, the scoby looks like a gelatinous disk. I don’t believe it is related to kombu, although I could be wrong. I don’t know the background etymology although I’d be interested to learn more!

    That's huge! Kudos to your daughter. If you're referring to the liquid left after she grew that magnificent #scoby, it might be technically called kombucha. However, the stuff is so vinegary no one likes it.😬 Drinkable #kombucha brews in just a few days.

    I tried drinking the scoby liquid once. First two swallows seemed OK. But the vinegary aspect became too much by the third sip. 😬

  27. Nach 5 Tagen: der #Scoby ist schon etwas gewachsen und die Flüssigkeit, der #Kombucha, riecht gut.

    Also auf zur zweiten Runde: Scoby rausfischen, etwas Ansatz Flüssigkeit mit abnehmen, den Rest abfüllen.
    Dann neues Teekonzentrat zubereiten, Zucker und kaltes Wasser dazu, Scoby wieder rein und abgedeckt wieder stehenlassen.

  30. Cracked open a bottle of my most recent #kombucha batch- this one brewed with malt extract instead of plain sugar, some flaked wheat, and hops. It’s basically beer but using a #scoby instead of brewer’s yeast. It tastes like a kettle sour!

  32. Working on a #kombucha #leather today. I dried a small #scoby for about 2 weeks, then buffed melted coconut oil and otter wax into it. It’s mostly transparent and somewhat leather-like. It is _very_ strong- I can’t rip it without trying really hard! I don’t think it’s water resistant but it might make a nice #vegan leather for some #sewing projects.

  33. Going to write a #kombucha tutorial soon. I make #sourbeer - style kombucha, flavored with hops and sometimes #mugwort. I’ve made about 15 1-gallon batches. Rebuilding my website using #hugo right now, once it’s up it’s kombucha time.
    Also if anybody wants a kombucha #scoby / mother hmu!
