Made a paper template for the rise legs and it was a pleasure to use my new marking knife. Good sharp tools make such a difference.

Cut the legs out on the bandsaw, I need so much more practice. I don't have a template following router flush trim bit so the paper template was mostly helpful to not have to make complex measurements and marking twice. Going to take the slab to my friend's tomorrow for another round through the planer. I'm getting close!

While walking Boobington Bear in the woods we came across a huge branch that had broken off a mature oak. A section of the branch was split, smooth and wood worm free. 🪱 For days this branch called 'Edward. Edward'.

Eventually i gave in, put a hand saw on my bike and now in the #mancave I have a beautiful, natural piece of old tree.

Now I guess I have to just look at this wood , and try to imagine what it will become. What is hiding inside. My #shed needs some more shelving?

But it's beautiful how it is, bark and all.

Any ideas?

Made some fresh hide glue and formed it into gummies based on the kind of glue. Two kinds of glue that you might call liquid hide glue and hot hide glue. All made of grocery store gelatin. #woodworking

Après ma très mauvaise expérience d'hier (https://climatejustice.social/@Lauralala/116379402746883553), j'avais besoin de me changer les idées le soir et je me suis pris d'envie de tailler du bois à l'Opinel.

Un doctorant du labo avait ramené des branches d'olivier qui avaient été coupé chez ses parents. Comme c'est un bois alimentaire et que je voulais me lancer dans la confection d'ustensiles de cuisine, ça tombait à pique !

J'ai coupé 2 morceaux de même longueur à peu près droits. Puis, je les ai taillés en lamelles assez fines.

Mais en voulant fendre un bloc assez gros, j'ai cassé la lame de l'Opinel, sniff... Vous pensez que c'est rattrapable ?

Ein paar Impressionen von einem Holzhausbau aus der Bauzeit. Die Fotos haben verschiedenen Stände. Die großen Löcher in der Wand sind zum einblasen der Zellulosedämmung. Innen wurden später alles mit Platten verkleidet und gespachtelt.

Vzhledem k tomu, že v králíkárně už delší dobu probíhaly vylehčovací práce (které nebyly objednány!), naše malosériová výroba zhotovila několik výměnných dílů, konkrétně kat. č. KRSLP045 (ty naopak objednány byly).

Výměnné sloupky se v minulosti již osvědčily i díky snadné výměně - prostě do nich stačí jebnout, vyrazit kolíky, zevnitř vrazit nový sloupek a je tak na dva roky pokoj.

I made this mallet a while ago, but I recently broke it so I had to make it a new handle. This is it's third (!!), but the head hasn't split yet so I'm still calling it a win. Head is sugar maple--the color is from metal oxides in the soil getting pulled into the wood fibers during the life of the tree. Handle is salvaged red oak. #theWorkshop #woodworking #greenwoodworking
