  1. The ash branch had split and the backup branch was not thick enough unfortunately. Resawed some reclaimed oak and shaped it with a draw knife. Used my new shinto rasp to refine the shape. Lovely tool for that job! Finished with boiled linseed oil. #woodworking #diy

  2. All pins sawn. Will get to chopping tomorrow. #woodworking

  7. This is going great. Worried about when I eventually need to sharpen the gouge but for now I’m cooking with gas #woodworking

  9. Skipped the rasp and file and only used a scraper and gouges. Happy with the result but I think I need a more acute gouge too #woodworking

  11. I saw a version of this slicer (gulliotine?) while I was on a business trip to southern France earlier this year. I wanted to make make one with my interpretation of its form and function. Serrated blade is made in France and it is pretty sharp. It is black walnut with mineral oil/beesewax finish. Overall, I am happy with it. Let me know what you think.

  15. This is post scraper, v tool, and a couple gouges. You can see the left curve doesn’t look sweet still, so I have some shaping to do still, but it’s getting close #woodworking

  17. Hoping to have all these nice and tidy today. Protocol is start with the fine side id my Shinto rasp, then switch to the auriou rasp, then use a cheap file to get as close as I can, and finally clean off all the end grain with a scraper. That last step is amazing and makes it look perfect, but I don’t have a way to clean up the bottom of the pull. I guess what I really need is gouges and a v tool for that… #woodworking

  19. Cleaned up the axe head by first letting it soak in vinegar for a few days. Then used a wire wheel and finally did some sanding. Won't go any farther than this cause I like the patina. Sharpened it too. Next up the handle!

  21. Visited arzanà the other day. They collect and restore old wooden boats from the venetian lagoon. If you‘re interested in wooden boats and boat building, I‘d recommend a visit.
