I hate sharpening. I managed to sharpen 3 chisels and my plane iron in about 6 hours.

I need a better way to do this. I have water stones (220/800 and 4000/8000). They are messy, need constant flattening, and the edges of the wider blades take forever.

How does everyone else do this?

All 5 legs assembled, planed, and cut to length.

Made a paper template for the rise legs and it was a pleasure to use my new marking knife. Good sharp tools make such a difference.

Cut the legs out on the bandsaw, I need so much more practice. I don't have a template following router flush trim bit so the paper template was mostly helpful to not have to make complex measurements and marking twice. Going to take the slab to my friend's tomorrow for another round through the planer. I'm getting close!

While walking Boobington Bear in the woods we came across a huge branch that had broken off a mature oak. A section of the branch was split, smooth and wood worm free. 🪱 For days this branch called 'Edward. Edward'.

Eventually i gave in, put a hand saw on my bike and now in the #mancave I have a beautiful, natural piece of old tree.

Now I guess I have to just look at this wood , and try to imagine what it will become. What is hiding inside. My #shed needs some more shelving?

But it's beautiful how it is, bark and all.

Any ideas?

One of our members collected some old wooden boards and crafted a cherry end grain cutting board from them. It took time, patience and a fair amount of effort, but the result turned out better than expected.

back on the bandsaw repair:
I've fully quantified just how cursed this arbor is. the hole in the back was drilled at a slight angle, this is the hole that slips onto the motor shaft, so the arbor has a wobble.
The threaded hole that accepts a bolt & washer to hold the wheel on is straight, but drilled in the center of the bottom of the angled hole, so it's offset.
I did a small test wheel attempting to counteract for these shenanigans, and it mostly worked.
I'm gonna try it on a full size print next. We'll see what it looks like in the morning!

This bandsaw came without its stamped metal feet, which made up for the angle in the casting.
This is the kind of stuff I’m excited to have a printer for; little utilitarian problem solving accessories.

Vzhledem k tomu, že v králíkárně už delší dobu probíhaly vylehčovací práce (které nebyly objednány!), naše malosériová výroba zhotovila několik výměnných dílů, konkrétně kat. č. KRSLP045 (ty naopak objednány byly).

Výměnné sloupky se v minulosti již osvědčily i díky snadné výměně - prostě do nich stačí jebnout, vyrazit kolíky, zevnitř vrazit nový sloupek a je tak na dva roky pokoj.

I spent last week in #pei. Original plans had me doing couple of projects while there, but I just didn't come out of vacation mode. entire week instead was spent in laying on beach, eating lots of lobster rolls and fish & chips and in general having a grand 'ol vacation. Workshop has turned out really nice and although going from large detached home to 600sqft studio apartment will be hard, everything else about PEI makes up for it in spades. now let's hope this house sells so that I can fund build of our #foreverhome
also... one good thing that happned during my trip there... my contractor mentioned that he has a tracksaw there that he isn't using and I can use it for projects while there. turns out he had festool TS75 that he hasn't used in like decade. it was purchased for one project that required ripping 12' long sheets of speciality plywood. so now I am proud owner of festool TS75 & 2 x 75" long tracks ( FS1900/2 ). I guess I can't thumb my nose at festool youtubers anymore 🤣

Had a long conversation with electrician today as he is starting the job of running wiring. I am going with surface mounted panel. workshop will have 200amps with another 200 amps going to the house once it's built. I will be pulling 2 cat6 cables thru conduit between home and shop. lots of outlets on the wall. each of the walls will have 2 x 220v outlets with each wall on it's own circuit. there are also 2 x 110v circuits on each wall as well.
Insulated garage door gets delivered next week.

Vanity two that we finished summer of 2024. Custom 3d painted bathroom vanity. This was a labor of love for about 2 months along with the twin Vanity at the time. Our customers requested a octopus theme for both bathrooms. 8 layers of resin later and hours of painting and they are one of my favorite projects!

Workshop floor is getting poured tomorrow. So our builder's crew hustled today to insulate the floor. So far looks like workshop being ready and livable by may is going to happen. It won't get used as my workshop until main home is built year after. But I am happy for any suggestions on things you would do if this was your shop. It has full bath in back corner so I don't track sawdust in the house but other than that, it's full open 600 sqft shop.
