Knowing how much work it is to make it, I always feel sorry smashing up something like that, even if its half rotten and falling apart.
But who knows how old this is. Probably nearly a century. Maybe more. You did fine, long gone carpenter and your work made someone think of you after all this time.

CNC doesn't decide which joinery to use. or how to design your project. it is merely a tool. I fail to see comparison to AI -

The final result after two hours of woodwork (i had to learn and experience the behaviour of my new draw knife):
Two pieces of mostly plain and flat (cherry?) wood.
Now it’s time to sleep in a box, covered with a lot of woodchips to dry slowly and prevent cracking or twisting (hopefully 😉)
When it’s dry enough, I want to practise different chipcarving Cuts and patterns to get used to it.

My latest #woodworking project is complete.
This A-frame sign (two sides) is to put out in front of the new meeting hangar of my EAA Chapter 1457 at Eugene Airport on meeting nights. We are on a busier street and President wanted to maybe draw in some strays.
Top of frame comes off easy and rails inside allow us to quickly swap signs in case we need something for special events such as Young Eagles rallies.
Paint is 3/10 because paint is my Kryptonite.

I had a request to make a slight modification to my design. I am not a big fan personally and I think I'll say no next time. When it comes to the design/shape I work really hard to put my ideas into existence and it feels wrong to have a customer dictate part of that.

Finally got around to starting my part of the embroidery/woodwork collaboration I’m doing with @bob. I don’t have a plan for what comes next; I’m just doing what seems like it might be interesting.
Threads I’ve used so far are DMC soft cotton and DMC variegated floss. (I expect bob will probably reply to give details of the wood bit.)
The overall idea was inspired by seeing an article about Nosheen Iqbal’s embroidery-on-wood in the March/April 2026 issue of Embroidery magazine (NB there is more than one Nosheen Iqbal on social media — this one is noshii on Instagram).

One final old plane mostly tuned up. There are some cracks in the body, but I think they're stable? The blade is heavy, has some pitting on the back so the cut isn't perfect but good enough. I think I found this one at an estate sale a couple years ago for a fair price. #woodworking

Measure twice, cut, or drill, once. I'm making a jig to hold wood so I can axe chunks off without worrying the axe will hit the concrete patio floor.
Base board and sides are marked for drilling the pilot holes for screws to attach two sides and make a right-angle working surface.
This is my first time walking into a hardware place and getting lumber, they cut each piece in half for me so I have a second try if the base piece splits. It's all solid wood, not plywood or MDF.

My wooden #kazoo design:
I’ve used 4mm alder planks, but 3mm plywood or crate wood is fine too.
I’ve noted down the dimensions of mine, but this is just an example.In practice, you simply need to cut out two identical rectangles measuring approximately 30×100mm, drill the holes roughly where they should be but ensure they line up exactly facing each other when finished.
Glue the two edge strips to the base, angling them slightly inwards on one side, then glue the top on. Once dry, trim the rectangles down to the edge strips, this gives you this trapezoid shape.
Sand, oil or varnish.
Cut out two small pieces of cigarette paper for the membrane.
