Its been so nice to be at VAR gallery teaching in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The class sizes have been small, students have been amazing and in the mornings and evenings I have had time to work on projects that have been on hold for months
One of those projects is a vibe coded website- https://sphere.glass.rodeo/ that does all the math to help me make 3D neon spring spheres and ovals in any size. I tested it last night with Lavender - a pretty out of production color my friend Steph brought from a shop in New Orleans. Future improvements include making the heat distance inches display in 1/16th rounded fractions (with centimetres option), an image overlay so I could make a 3D globe neon, and reworking the rendering that happens on device to make the site more responsive.
I also played around with scraps of color and make a fun doodle. VAR has been a friendly Midwest, US. Art Oasis, with a friendly, energetic art community around it.#class #neon #Milwaukee #projects #getaway #glass #sculpture

I took a lunchtime bike ride instead of a walk today

I continue on my way and get to a road with construction that has traffic down to 2 lanes shifted over some parking lines but clearly marked.
There are 2 cars in front of me, the first one goes to the left lane which has oncoming traffic 2 blocks away, the second car follows. I brake to let them both back in but they don't switch back in until they almost hit other cars.
It hasn't even been 10 minutes since I left my house.

I swear I don't understand this world anymore...
I'm running an errand as I head into work. Stopped a stop light two cars pulled up next to me in the left turn lane. The car in the back taps the other one. Then do it again. I blurted out "what are you doing?!" And they give me a dirty look. The front car then runs the red light and so does the other car. 2 blocks later they get to another red light, the same thing happens but they turn left this time and I go straight.

Because of a river, railroad tracks, freeway, and cemetery, this might be the most direct path for me to bike to work.
Some of it is separated bike lane, some is multi-use path, some is residential streets, and some is terrible roads with speeding cars.

Wowza I have been busy! When it rains it pours- which is nice as I was starting to feel a little restless with all the vacationing I had been doing.
Getting out of the NYC to teach two short neon classes at VAR gallery in Milwaukee has been just the breather I have needed. Gosh the midwest is a nice refresher!
All the work has been fun- I am again filling in at the famous Let There Be Neon shop (now in Sunset park) and they have been giving me a bunch of fun things to bend in neat colors, fonts and designs I wouldn't normally use. There are numerous projects for artists and companies an things going on too. It sure is nice to be busy. So close! I was able to ride the new (separated) bike lane along Lisbon Avenue in Milwaukee this morning.
Of course *getting to it* is not easy. IT starts at Lisbon & Burleigh which is a really crappy intersection. I rode side streets up to 74th and then crossed Burleigh to get to Lisbon.
Not ideal, but it's doable. Sad because I live a half block from Lisbon but two more blocks before the bike lane starts.
