If it would be, as @thenexusofprivacy writes on https://privacy.thenexus.today/fediseer-fires-and-the-bad-space/, all of the almost 4000 instances on Ro's list are attacking marginalized people. Which is a lie! Because he just copy & pastes blocklists from toxic instances, like
mastodon.artwhich is well known for spreading untruth via their blocklist and using #Oliphant, #TBS, ... to spread it far more, than it should be.E.g., the domain

So far, the birthing pangs of whatever this is have been messy in terms of their effect on people. #oliphant #hachyderm #tusky and I am sure many others have found that #moderation and #governance are sticky, thorny functions where people are often made very unhappy, by decisions or by experiences or by the cost of these on relationships and communities.
I urge #mercy, #compassion and #grace 1st, maybe #forgiveness where possible. But #transparency, #rules & #roles, too

@nemobis thanks for that pointer to #oliphant! That led me to https://github.com/eigenmagic/fediblockhole which looks almost exactly like what I was imagining. But perhaps rather than pushing the changed blocks automatically, having some kind of email/matrix notification get generated to require admin/moderator review?

Please remind people to not just deactivate. They need to secure their accounts & #LockAndLeave otherwise in 30 days their name can be spoofed. While most of their info is gone, every @ reply ever directed at them will direct to the fake.

Looks like #Tootle has been forked into #Oliphant. Writing from it now. About time I would say. Tootle always crashed on my laptop. Very weird that Oliphant's Github page doesn't mention Tootle at all. Also, no new updates to the original code. There's still no voting option. For reading and firing off quick toots, this is more than enough. I like Pinafore but I have always wanted a functional and minimal desktop app.

It is high time that #fediblock list Admins, as well as the Fediverse Council redress the damage done to the 101010 community and removes the instance from blocklists. It was an illinformed decision and must be corrected.
One can’t be kept in purgatory for eternity. This situation has become kafkesque. The Fediverse should be a friendly place for decent communities, and such is the 101010 as well.
Time to end the injustice!

I am a user of the 101010.pl instance since November 2022. I have chosen this one because it is the biggest and the oldest Polish language Mastodon instance. The news about defederating of the this instance has been very disappointing to me. I think that it was a hasty and an unfair decision. I believe that it should be changed and that the instance should be allowed to refederate. A whole community shouldn’t be punished for deeds of one (or few) individuals, who, to my knowledge, are no longer active here.
I believe that Admins of this instance have started applying stricter moderation rules and that universally unaccepted content is no longer allowed here. I believe that instances should have the right to appeal against defederation decisions. And in cases some wrongdoing was made, these should be allowed to refederate after some time.
It is in the interest of all to make the Fediverse a better place for everyone, and I want to be part of this as a user of this instance. This is why I request that you reconsider your decision about blocklisting of this instance. I also call on Admins of 101010.pl to address the issue, re-engage with other Admins in a constructive manner with a view to refederating of 101010.pl with the rest of the Fediverse.

The level of disappointment I feel in @[email protected] right now is off the charts. And the blindness of so many to obvious attempts to destroy leftist unity. I've had to constantly fight against this in real world organizing, and I started quietly discussing some obvious bad actors in this space with some people here but here we are.
To be clear, over the course of a month an effective leftist instance was expanded, infiltrated, it's most powerful voice evicted and the instance admin outmaneuvered. The instance may not exist soon, and it provided tooling and lists used to keep much of leftist ActivityPub/Mastodon safe.
People need to take a big step back and look at the big picture of what is going on here. This was effective organizing until others organized to undermine and destroy it.
