Их вдвое больше, чем месяц назад, и заметная часть подписана агентами: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor. Это не гипербола: по данным The Information, число пул-реквестов от ИИ-агентов на GitHub выросло примерно с 4 млн в месяц в сентябре 2025 года до более чем 17 млн в марте 2026-го — вчетверо за полгода. Каждый из них кто-то должен прочитать, собрать, прогнать через тесты и решить, вливать ли в основную ветку. Вопрос: кто именно.

Managed a couple of hours in the forge after work today. Making up some tongs to handle some 2" diameter 1006 steel I've just received from https://heritage-iron.com/. So I forged up some tong ends, and drop-tong welded reins on. One went well, the second one I wound up tacking with the mig after the third failure. Welded up fine after that ;-)

I have some steel suitable to forge a knife or two. I haven't made a knife yet, so it'll be an interesting challenge. I wonder if forging a small wood carving knife or a good sized blacksmith's knife would be a better first project.

Toujours pour mes #romains, j'ai forgé 4 petits culter, ce sont des répliques de #couteau du 1et et 2ème siecle, du british museum.
Ils mesurent 12cm
L' #acier est carbone, le manche est en #bois de buis. Les rivets en laiton. Les décorations sont faites à la lime, noircies au charbon après avoir huilé le manche.
Je ne sais pas à quoi ils servaient, c'est petit.

I hadn't been to the smithy in about a month, so I went last night. I forged another wine stake for someone that asked for one and a charcoal rake for my sister.
I've had a few requests for wine stakes. Maybe I'll buy enough to make a dozen or so to have on hand for when people ask about them.

Restauration de 2 #marteaux chinès en vide-grenier. 930g et 560g
J'ai refait les tables et les pannes qui étaient bien marquées. Et bien-sûr les manches sont refais en frêne sec au banc d'âne, à la plane.
Je couperais les #manches à leur longueur définitive, une fois que je m'en serais un peu servi.
Tout ça, pour essayer de forger à nouveau, à cause de cette maudite tendinite.

Enfin un peu de temps pour continuer le Jaeger!
Aujourd'hui j'ai forgé (et surtout limé) la plaquette du système de détente double avec une retaille de fer puddlé. L'acier nécessaire pour le ressort et les détentes sont aussi récupéré. Here is a photo of my second wine stake in use. I ended up giving the first to a friend and haven't gotten an in-use photo. I gave this one to my sister when we were at her place for dinner over the weekend.
The design of this one is a bit better. The angle of the opening makes it easier to get a glass in and out. Also, it doesn't have a decorative leaf, which somewhat gets in the way too. She used this one all afternoon into the evening with what looked like zero effort.
The two people drinking (my partner and my sister) were enjoying a glass of champagne from 2005 in celebration of a significant life event for my sister. They tell me it was incredibly good champagne.

I completed the cooper's driver. I'm happy with how it turned out. I only need to oil the handle and it'll be ready to be used.
I only hardened the working end so the struck end will be less likely to chip or damage the hammer that strikes it. I tempered it pretty far back so that it's tough since it doesn't need to be super hard since it will only be used on mild (softer) steel hoops.
I wasn't sure how much to file the groove on the working end (the peen-like end), so I left it how it is now figuring I could adjust it later.

I started forging a cooper's driver today. I got the eye punched and drifted, the working end forged out, the struck end forged and shaped, and some rough filing on it.
Next time I'm there, I'll do some more filing to get the ears symmetrical, and I'll need to flatten the working end and start filing in a groove because it'll be too difficult when it's hardened. I need to harden and temper it too. I can likely get all that done next time in addition to hanging a handle.

I haven't bought anything leather for many years, but I do have a few things from before I became vegan that are leather. I have a belt that is too big and a pair of sandals that should be tighter. So today, I forged a punch that hopefully will let me punch a few holes. I don't need it to last long, 5 punches would be great. It'd be nice if it worked well and held up for a lot longer than that so I didn't just waste this tool steel on this.
