  1. Opinion: “Trade agreements are only successful and sustainable if they produce win-win outcomes, in which both sides make gains. Trade agreements that aim to weaken your best customers and your largest investors don’t end up being in your interest, either.”

  2. If you're responsible for initiating a war, and you can't wrap it up in 6 months to a year, you should lose your life along with all the men and woman who lost theirs when they stepped up to your foolish demands out of duty in spite of their beliefs. #uspoli #TradeWar #IranWar #GazaWar #UkraineWar

  3. “...this is deeply troubling for thousands of small Canadian exporters.

“A full 40 % of small exporters sell items on the new 10+ page list of items facing 50 per cent tariffs. Many CFIB members have said this will end their US sales, and some have reported this will kill their businesses.

“I hope that discussions continue and an interim deal can be quickly found.”

  4. 🇨🇦 🇺🇸 Trump tariffs ‘deeply troubling’

The CEO of a national business non-profit called the tariffs “deeply troubling” for thousands of small Canada businesses.

“A full 40 per cent of small exporters sell items on the new 10+ page list of items facing 50 per cent tariffs. Many CFIB members have said this will end their U.S. sales, and some have reported this will kill their businesses,” Dan Kelly, pres and CEO of the Canadian Federation of Independent Businesses

  5. 🇺🇸 PM: Tariffs will hit U.S. steel and dairy 🇺🇸

🇨🇦 Carney said the retaliatory tariffs will hit sectors such as steel, dairy, appliances, agriculture, electronics.

“Also include products that are currently subject to unjustified Section 232 tariffs. This is a focused response to protect and defend our industries and allow them to compete with U.S. products in the Canadian market,”

  6. Breaking news: what was the US negotiating team thinking? Poking the Canadian bear, and now tariffs are matched dollar for dollar. Fact: Canadian bears eat humans. Yes they do. Prime Minister Mark Carney is not pissing around with Trump's bunch of yokels. #USpoli #cdnpoli #bcpoli #CUSMA #tariffs

  7. Should Canada go on offense and implement an export tax on oil and gas exports on September 1st?

(This is my personal idea, not anything I have heard considered officially yet)

  8. As Wab Kinew has said there is no way a good deal can be negotiated with bad people. The #Trump admin is full of bad people - rapists, pedophiles, fraudsters, thieves, hucksters, mobsters, grifters. It's time for the world to end relationships with these monsters. sethdklein.substack.com/p/re-i,

  11. This incident is a reminder of two things. First, nations of the world should no longer assume it is safe to use US banking, technology systems, and hosted internet services. Second, because this is really about international fascists getting away with literal murder the ICC's role is more important than ever. I would fully support a Democratic POTUS that hopefully wins in 2028 to offer to extradite major Trump Administration figures, including Trump himself, for prosecution by the ICC or *at the very least* not oppose ICC governments arresting them for their war crimes if they were to travel overseas. No one will get any justice in US courts, especially once Trump pardons everyone before he leaves. #uspoli bbc.com/news/articles/cnvnl0el…
  12. As commentator has put it, “That’s because Hegseth is more concerned about “Brylcreem”, confederate names, renaming “DEI” ships, Military Academy admissions, and testosterone, than the 3 essential B’s: beans, bullets and bandaids…”

  13. “In other words, both Russian and American leaders are enmeshed in a war they can’t seem to win, and to stave off the consequences of losing, both are willing to take steps that will produce massive unrest. “

  14. “…the abolitionist Mr. White implies that if whites were forced to choose between white supremacy and the Constitution, they would uphold supremacy and reject the Constitution. It was prophetic because Southern leaders, including generals who had once sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States, abandoned their allegiance to it during the Civil War. It is prophetic again.”

  15. “From 1989 to 2026, we’ve had Democratic presidents for 20 years and Republicans for 17.4 years. Care to hazard a guess as to the number of jobs created under Democrats vs. Republicans?
    Answer: It’s 49.8 million versus 1.9 million. That isn’t a typo.”

  16. U.S. Ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra once claimed Canadians lack a sense of humour. Not true. We just need a good reason to laugh. Even now, the popcorn is popping. Turn on the Petition Channel! Steve Burgess advises. #canpoli #uspoli
