I'm heading out to accompany him [read: MAKE him] to get his injuries documented. I'm somewhat concerned about the knife injury, and that's definitely going to come up again.

Yesterday's Nazi rally was half streamers looking for content. I'm not kidding. It was about 50 people, half of them filming non-stop. (And of course one woman who was just there to buddyhustle cops.)
There's a reason why leftist streamers either stop on their own or get told to fuck off.
If your movement is mostly streamers desperate for footage, including leadership, you are fucked.

This β¬οΈ was a pretty good way to cap off a day that saw both a cop, AND Rob Semen Roe whine that I'm mean.
Apparently, I hurt the cops feelings by yelling at them when they were beating up Black people mourning a 19 year old they shot last month.
And then I hurt the feelings of a white fucking nationalist piece of shit. Let's see how many Nazis I can get him in photos with tomorrow.
Oh, and the twerp said I'm a "mean old woman."

6 PM Crash Carney's CEO Summit
βπ» βπΌ βπ½ βπΎ βπΏYeah so remember how I started this whole thing because I noticed I hadn't put my earrings back in? Well this was a protest where the legal support team prepared by removing anything that could get grabbed (like dangly earrings) pinning our hair up, and packing indirect vented goggles in case of tear gas.
None of which ended up being needed.
The action started at Nathan Phillips Square, where a couple thousand people gathered and spent an hour or so with undercover cops wandering in and out and through the crowd. But at least we finally seem to have got people to stop publicly cop-jacketing people randomly.
Most people are NOT GOOD AT IT. They tend to assume that anybody who is a little different or a little weird is a cop, when it could just be somebody neurodivergent or otherwise different.
β‘οΈ Pro Tip: Everyone should always just assume there are cops in the crowd and act accordingly. Kudos to cops for finally figuring out that footwear is part of the disguise, I guess.
Anyway, then we marched over to the Art Gallery, where the π°π°fat catsπ°π° were auctioning off the future, only to find that the cops had installed the barricades backwards, and I spent the ENTIRE EVENING waiting for them to get knocked over.
At one point, I was standing on the triangle part, and somebody started to push it, and I thought, "Oooo, here we go," but perhaps my weight led them to think they were sturdier than they were, or maybe they didn't realize what they were dealing with, so they stopped.
In response to the momentary shaking, TPS formed a Snatch Squad behind the lineΒ², and I thought, "Oh shit now it's going to pop off," but it never did.
Which is good.There were only two arrests that night, which, considering the many ways that could have shaken out, was a miracle.Β³
As always, it was a spectacularly wasteful display. Cops from: TPS, OPP, RCMP, Peel Regional, York, Hamilton, and Durham. Every goddamned toy every one of the units has, too. Mounted units. Drones. Facial rec.
They got it, it was there._____
ΒΉ Yeah we're just going to let that other thread fork shrivel and die. Mind: It's good when late nights are because you're having fun and not because you're sitting outside of a police station waiting for people to be released.
Β² that's not what you're looking at in the photo, that photo is just a different point in the evening when TPS was preparing to relieve OPP of backward barricade duty.
Β³ this is how you know Orange Hats is not organizing the protests or dictating tactics. We ALL knew of those were backwards the minute we arrived. Our job is to be able to predict the risks of police violence, and that was right at the top of the list.

Good luck finding a single media article with the connection, though.At this point in my life, I always assume that the more charges flying around, the more the cops know they're in the wrong. And boy, have a LOT of charges been laidΒ³.
A protest was held outside TPS HQ, or rather just west of TPS HQ, because cops are not good with criticism, so they BLOCKED THE SIDEWALK making it impossible for anyone to use the north side of the street.
A march followed (more on this in a minute).
Yes, there were fash, but this is not about them, so fuck them.

1 PM Disability Pride

βπ» βπΌ βπ½ βπΎ βπΏAt about 2:30 PM I wandered over to Allan Gardens to LO at the TDP march, as they were prepping to take the road. The group was 3 times the size of the protest at TPS HQ, but that one was Black people, soooooo it had way more cops, and the militarized ones, at that.
(I was told that the fash who were harassing the other march had been and gone from this one already.)
So the march took the street and went along Carlton to Yonge, and South on Yonge, when I started getting messages from the first LO team that the cops were starting to hassle their group at Sankofa Square... just as we were reaching Gould.
For non-Toronto peeps, that's a long block away.
So the two groups met up and shut down the intersection for a good while, while speeches were given, solidarity was declared and demonstrated, and then the two protests became one and marched to Grange Park, much to TPS' displeasure.
Guest is here now, so part two will be later.

Well that was an eventful day! Me (48X), my kiddo (21X) and my niece (18F) departed from Nijmegen at 8AM to drive to #Amsterdam for the #Pride Walk from Dam Square to #Vondelpark, the opening event of this year's #WorldPride. We parked the car at Zeeburg III P+R, took the tram 26 to the central station, and then walked from there to Dam Square.
At 11:00, the event started, with several fine speeches. By 11:45, standing in the hot sun, I started feeling unwell... I told my kiddo and niece that I'd go find a place to sit down for a moment. I was feeling weak, dizzy, tingling sensations in my arms... Someone called an event medic to me and they decided to get an ambulance on the scene just in case. Meanwhile, my condition was thankfully improving again. When the ambulance arrived, they decided to give me a check-up anyway. They hooked me up to the heart monitor and everything looked fine. In the end, it was probably a combination of the heat, the crowd, and the blood pressure meds that I had started on a few weeks ago resulting in a temporary drop in blood pressure with the resulting symptoms.
With that out of the way, we were even able to catch up to the Pride Walk and walk with them all the way into and through Vondelpark, until we got to the part of Vondelpark dubbed "Pride Park". When we got there, we saw several people carrying Palestinian flags being stopped by police. Since I wasn't with that specific anti-genocide bloc - I was just there with my queer family members - I tried to pass around that blockade, but the police blocked me from entering too. You see, on my collapsable flag pole, I didn't only have a #NonBinary pride flag, but also a #Palestine flag. So like the other people, now at least two dozen, who had Palestinian flags or were wearing a #keffiyeh, the police denied me entrance, and my child and niece as well.
This mass of people being blocked from entering caused others to be only able to pass through in single file, or sometimes not at all. Under chants of "Free Palestine", "Tout le monde dΓ©teste la police", "Let them through", "Amsterdam is saying no to genocide" and others, the police caused a lot of tension. At several occasions, people got shoved out of the way - not just by police, but also by people from behind, who wanted to get to the opening ceremony hosted by Queen MΓ‘xima of the Netherlands. My niece, who is recovering from a broken foot and is still somewhat unstable on her feet and using a cane for balance and support, was also shoved at least four times, once ending up fully on the ground.
Now it shoud also be known that my niece is no stranger to such altercations with the police because she's a member of XR and has joined several XR protests, but being in such a situation unprepared and while still recovering from an injury is something else... My kiddo is also familiar with French university protests, and I've endured my fair share of violent police action during antifascist protests, so none of us were noobs at this, but it was still a very stressful situation - at least I was not at risk of developing another low blood pressure incident!
Anyway, my clearly disabled niece was visibly shaken so I started pleading with the police to let us through so I could take care of her since she was in my charge. They refused, even though they saw clearly that my niece was in distress. However, they said, if I put the Palestinian flag away, we would be let through. I folded up my flags, collapsed the pole and put it all in my backpack... They still refused to let us through. The flag in the bag was now a no-go too. I would have to leave it here... So, I detached the Palestinian flag and handed it to a person wearing a keffiyeh behind me - I'd lose it, but it would at least go to someone who would put it to good use. Again, still, the police would not let us through, although I had acquiesced to all of their unreasonable demands.
Meanwhile, the police forcefully removed an elderly lady, who walked using two canes, who was carrying a Palestinian flag... All through that time there were several pushing and shoving incidents, both police shoving people with pro-Palestine items back, and visitors shoving them out of the way from the back so they could get through... People, where is your fucking #solidarity? Your queer siblings are being denied entrance because of the flag they carry or the clothes they wear... Do you not see how this should be your fight as well? None are free until we are all free!
We decided to call it and went a small distance back instead. After having recombobulated ourselves in the shade of the trees some 50 yards from the blockade, we gave it another attempt. The blockade was still ongoing. The police officers recognized us and still denied us entrance. But finally, after they had searched our bags to make sure I had no other Palestinian flags or keffiyehs in there, we were let through.
We ended up having a pretty good time in the Pride Park. We then also saw the rules of the Pride Park, which included: "No flags of any countries or organizations allowed." With evidence abound that this rule was being very selectively applied because there were many flags of various queer organizations present. And it's the World Pride - how can you ban national flags at such an event? Even then, by those posted rules, the Palestinian flag should be allowed, because the Netherlands doesn't recognise Palestine as a country, so by Dutch law, it's not a national flag. And a keffiyeh is also not a flag...
After making a round by all the stands in the park, we grabbed some very nice vegan sushi and then decided to go home. When we arrived at central station, it turned out that tram 26 had just run into an incident so there would be no trams going to P+R Zeeburg for, well, nobody knew how long... A bus service was being set up at that moment, but wasn't in place yet. Hundreds of people were already waiting so it would probably take at least an hour for us to even get going towards our car... We decided to take a cab instead. The cab driver was a really cool guy - he did charge us β¬60 for the trip though, geez, but at least we were back at our car and could commence our drive home.
So all in all a very eventful day in Amsterdam!
