The Grade II* listed Barton Road Swing Bridge that crosses the Manchester Ship Canal in Greater Manchester.
The spot where I was standing to capture this photograph was used as a location in one of my favourite films from the early 1960's 'A Taste of Honey' which starred Rita Tushingham, Murray Melvin and Dora Bryan.
The film was part of the 'British New Wave' cultural movement, sometimes referred to as kitchen sink realism and an adaptation of the 1958 play of the same name by Shelagh Delaney.
Many other locations from around Salford, very much still a Lowry landscape at the time, feature in the film.#england #manchester #salford #britishmovie #bridge #canal #landscape #photography

京杭大運河，綿亙中國南北，連京達杭；自隋煬帝始鑿，經歷代修葺，爲國用輸糧通商之重道。如今成爲水利與文化遺產，兼具航運、調水與風景之利。
The Grand Canal, stretching across northern and southern China to link Beijing and Hangzhou, was first excavated under Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty (581–618 CE). Through successive dynasties of expansion and maintenance, it became a vital artery for national grain transport and commerce. Today, it is a celebrated water conservancy and cultural heritage site, serving the triple purpose of navigation, water diversion, and tourism.

It started as a silly idea, but I keep leaning closer to the vacation idea of renting a narrowboat in England for a couple of weeks. Tooling along at a snail's pace while we take turns walking the towpath. Like taking a long trekking vacation without having to carry everything on your back, or worry about making the next camp or hotel by sundown.
It's just the seed of an idea right now.
