I still have my "Dead Letters" CD by #Finnish band, #TheRasmus. It was so cool because it was an "Enhanced CD" and had #QuickTime content.
Despite being released in 2003, #MacOSX wasn't fully supported and you couldn't get the interactive experience. You'd have to browse the folders in the CD like an animal. lol
I used to pop this CD into my clamshell iBook at the time and watch the music video included for "In The Shadows" all the time. Takes me back to 9th grade.

I have been #bullied for most of my school life.
I have gone through hell through the abuse of my parents, through losing the roof over my head, etc.
Over the years my understanding of my feelings and depression though #ADHD has become better and better. But nothing in my life so far has come even close to first losing my son to the #Finnish social services and being at the reviving end of my wives mental issues. I still love her very much but being the target of her delusion has been hell. -

I've been enjoying Finnish on Duolingo and am ¾ through it. It's a short course. It's the first non-romance language I've got this far with. It also reminds me of words I used to make up. It seems to have fewer sounds than other languages, shorter syllables and it's all phonetic but the many suffixes words can have can be confusing and make words long.
I've also done some Italian (a2) and French (b2) on busuu, which is better than Duolingo. Its a good activity for heatwaves.

Gauging interest: if I offered intro-level Finnish lessons (over a video call), would there be takers for them?
There would be a lot of room for flexibility in how to do things/whether it would be one-on-one or group/etc. I am a highly proficient second-language speaker, which IMO makes me better suited to teach the language to A and B -level learners than a native speaker.

The most wonderful thing just happened at Target. Was walking by the books section and heard a lady talking to her kids… in #Finnish!
I asked if she was speaking Finnish and she lit up. “OMG how did you know?”
Anyway we had a super long conversation. She invited me to Finnish Conversation Groups in Portland.
Even the organizer to the group is a colleague of mine at Nike! She told me to reach out to her.
Ahh so excited! 🇫🇮
Edit: This story just got even crazier! My friend knows the colleague.

Day 4 of recovering from trip. Today is not good because at midnight I discovered the cat had peed on a bunch of stuff in the hall and I'd lost my amitriptaline.
So I'm only up for language learning apps. But I discovered that Finnish names many of their months after something relevant to that time of year.
January: oak moon
February : pearl, bead, beauty or gem moon
June: Summer moon
July: hay moon
August : life moon
September: autumn moon
Oct: mud moom
Dec: Christmas moon -
