  1. No #Swifts from my kitchen window since August 13th. Saw a couple in the sky a bit to the north of us in Keith on the 15th, but no others since then. I'm guessing they've headed south now. I'll miss their noisy high-speed fly-bys while they are gone.

  2. I'd pretty much given up on seeing any #swifts today, but a movement outside the kitchen window caught my eye this evening. Five swifts flying round shortly before sunset.

  3. Good morning. The sky outside our back door is filled with dipping and darting #swifts this morning.

  4. Migrating #swifts loyally return every year to nests in buildings, study finds - theguardian.com/environment/20 which makes this: "government in England has repeatedly refused to oblige builders to include a £35 swift brick in every new home." unforgivable...

  5. The local swifts chasing and screaming. Sunset yesterday from our bedroom window.

  6. I did manage to capture a couple of semi-decent stills of the swifts 😍 #birdsoftheworld #birds #swifts | #kent #england

  7. On warm, windy and sunny evening watching the #swallows (or are they #housemartins or #swifts ?) weave, duck and dive, before soaring up and disappearing sideways out of view is just pure delight!

I am tempted to turn on one of the irrigation sprinklers on the vegetable patch as I assume it makes insects on the plants fly up into the air and seems to increase the chance that the swallows will stay above our plot for just a little longer.

  8. From a couple of weeks ago, I was sitting outside enjoying the sunset and after the sky colors faded I got out my longer lens & started taking photos of the crescent #moon. As soon as I started snapping I saw some objects flying through the frame - by pure luck it was some high flying #swifts, their crescent shapes a dark mirror of the moon’s.

  9. A couple of weeks back I saw 5 swifts here, once. But since then I've only seen two, and I barely see them at all, which is rare. Now there's just one flying around all alone, which I've never seen before. The past couple of years there have been around six, and they've been flying around here together constantly, screaming. I really do get the feeling they removed a bunch of nests when they renovated the buildings in the neighborhood last year. 😞
