  1. Rest in Peace, Louise Lasser
    🙏 🕯️

    "Mary Hartman! Mary Hartman!!"

Not as well known as her one-time husband, Woody Allen, but for me, she was right up there in the pantheon of the #neurotic essence.

Her brief television series - one of my very favorites ever, along with "Brain Dead" - had me 'addicted' and enthralled by her performance.

A giant in the history of pop music....

Just look at the list of artists he brought us, and imagine a world without them.

Or him. A giant who bred legends.

  3. #Obit: Alan Greenspan kept interest rates too low for too long which significantly contributed to the housing bubble. He did have that great line about "irrational exuberance" of markets, though the man loved the stock market. Like, a lot.

  4. Jools Topp has left the stage.

"Jools Topp, one-half of New Zealand’s celebrated double-act the Topp Twins, has died peacefully at her home.

"She passed away on Saturday with her twin sister Lynda, brother Bruce, close friends and her pets by her side, following a 22-year journey with breast cancer."

  6. Desmond Morris, zoologist and wildlife TV presenter, died on Sunday aged 98.

In the early 90s I was lucky enough to edit a series he presented called 'Animal Country'. Desmond's confident and engaging style made his work accessible to a wide audience. He was a decent man.

  7. I haven’t been able to find any #obit #stories on the great British #sciencefiction #writer, #IanWatson, who reportedly died today, but I did find this insightful, entertaining piece he wrote about #StanleyKubrick and #AI in January: 🎁🔗 www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

  8. Quite famous kiwi journalist Peter Arnett has died in Los Angeles aged 91. He became a celebrated war correspondent for US networks and won a Pulitzer prize for his reporting.

  9. "The many dangers LaFayette faced included an assassination attempt on the same night Medgar Evers was murdered in Mississippi, in what the FBI said was a conspiracy to kill civil rights workers. LaFayette was beaten outside his home before his assailant pointed a gun at him..."

"LaFayette grew up in Tampa, Florida, where he recalled trying to board a trolley with his grandmother when he was 7 years old. Black passengers had to pay at the front, then walk to the back to climb on. But the conductor began to pull away before they could board, and his grandmother fell. He was too little to help.

"He was beaten in Montgomery, Alabama, and arrested in Jackson, Mississippi, becoming one of more than 300 Freedom Riders sent to Parchman Prison...

"Several of King’s marches were attacked by white mobs..."
