@jabgoe2089 Wirklich interessant. DU bezichtigst dein Gegenüber einer "afd-Taktik",lieferst mit deiner Art "nur Fragen zu stellen" selbst aber ein Paradebeispiel für #Sealioning. Bisschen kritische Selbstreflektion auf mehreren Ebenen würde dir ganz gut tun.
Btw habe ICH dir Belege geliefert - und mich hinterher geärgert, dass ich damit meine Lebenszeit verschwendet habe. Es war der Versuch dir eine Chance zu geben, die du absolut nicht verdient hast wie jetzt klar ist

Another type of troll I experienced today was the DARVO troll, which has a lot of overlap with Sea-Lioning. Darvo stands for: "Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender." While the point of sealioning is to drain your energy, what makes DARVO different is the goal is to flip the script to make you the bad guy for having a boundary.
When you set a boundary like "I do not want to debate this," continuing to reply is a form of trolling.

Being open about my identity attracts some of the worst people. YouTube comments can be ugly, especially when discussing anything that does not pertain to cis white men.
Today, I dealt with a private message on Mastodon that forced me to learn the term "sealioning."
Wikipedia defines it as "a type of trolling or harassment that consists of pursuing people with relentless requests for evidence... while maintaining a pretense of civility... likened to a denial-of-service attack targeted at human beings."
It is bad faith exhaustion tactics. If you see it, do not engage.

I have a friend that I've been friends with since high school. I like my friend, but he's drinking the AI Kool-Aid.
We went to dinner last January and I told him I didn't want to talk about AI as I hate Generative AI. It's been a year so I guess he's decided he waited long enough.
I use Linux. Because Linus Torvalds used AI to vibe code something recently, my friend has taken that as an opening to talk to me about AI again.

CW: Sealioning Attempt, failed.
I shared a story about how the Xlibre forker, Enrico Weigelt who was trying to get away from DEI policies, mentioned how Linus put this man on blast for the anti-vax misinformation/disinformation. I had included the link in this post with direct reference (that could easily have been read and understood, mind you). As it was a passing statement, as I am wont to do from time to time.
In just a few hours, I got a sealioning attempt from mastodon.social (how revolutionary). Naturally, when I refused to engage in a pointless battle, the prods to get me to engage were launched. It's funny that this person seems to like Enrico enough to do battle on Mastodon, has done a one on one interview with him.
It doesn't seem like a coincidence that this user would try to discredit the opinion by baiting me into engaging and trying to wear my resolve down. Thankfully, my knowledge of dishonest tactics saved hours of my day.

There's a brain dead chauvinist in the comments of one of my Tiktok videos basically #sealioning without knowing what sea lining is, so this other person and I are reverse - sea lion trolling him, this is hilarious 😂😂😂

The problem with #Mastodon is that there is no #algorithm; so you can't get anyone to see your posts (which is the point of #socialMedia) unless you spam #hashtags. This will get you #engagement, but only if you say things that the #hashtag's #followers agree with completely; otherwise all you get is #toxic #sealioning from #tribalists.

Did you tell them to change instances? /s 🙄I have heard from multiple amazing PoC about this. Sometimes it's the usual straight up racism, but often it's sneakier and more pervasive.

A Sealion is essentially a polite troll. It's based on a brilliant cartoon that you can probably find under #Sealion or #Sealioning.
This particular tactic is being used on the #Fediverse as the primary form of #AntiBlack harassment. Many of my friends have pointed it out & you can see boosts of the reporting on my timeline.
Today's epiphany comes about courtesy of @[email protected] who uses the follower only function to sealion without it showing on their public profiles. Of course, they can always use mastodon.social's lax moderation to just swap accounts.
Smell his response for yourself and see what you think.
TLDR: Nazis sealioning & using followers only posts to evade scrutiny.

Recently there has been some strange posts about me. calling my timeline harassing and "#sealioning." !? Also called me a racist.
My timeline focuses on tech and coding. "Sealioning" is new to me; my aim has always been genuine discussion, never harassment. I was shocked how the conversation degraded into swearing, name-calling, and instablocking, which doesn't help anyone.
If anyone thinks I'm wrong here let me know. Let's keep it respectful and open to constructive dialogue.

Okay, gegen das massive Sealioning gegen Klimawissenschaft von "Quasselstrippe" nimmt sich der Leugner-Account "Quentmeier" schon wieder recht langsam und alt, fast seriös aus...
Echt bemerkenswert, wie schnell digitales Trolling mutiert! Tip: Trolle eher nicht füttern, sondern zu anderen Themen konstruktive Druko-Dialoge starten. Das ärgert sie am meisten... :-)
