Aug 25, 1908: On this date Ray Anderson was born in Lake City, MN. He volunteered to serve in the Abraham Lincoln Battalion, sailed for Spain on the SS Manhattan on 2/25/1938, & served as a machine gunner. He, along with 2 other soldiers, inadvertently walked into the fascist lines, was captured & held as a POW; he was among 71 exchanged on 4/22/1939.
