Ich benutze gerade den #Veloplanner für Routenplanung und mir gefällt die Darstellung in der Karte, wie auch die Benutzbarkeit am Mobilgerät ganz gut.
Es gibt Sammlungen ähnlich den Collections von #Komoot und die Funktion Mehrtagestouren. habt ihr den Veloplanner schon im Test gehabt oder benutzt den aktiv? Gibt sehr wenig Einträge mit dem Hashtag.

#diday ich würd gerne von #komoot weg, weiß aber nicht so recht wie und wohin. Am liebsten #selfhosted. Wichtig für mich ist, dass ich gut Radtouren planen kann und es eine Möglichkeit gibt geplante Routen mit meinem Wahoo Element Roam 2 zu synchronisieren. Und natürlich fertige Aktivitäten... gibts da was? #followerpower @rotnroll666 @javahippie @moonglum

Besides Mapstodon.Space, I've set up an instance of wanderer, a decentralized, self-hosted trail database software (think Strava/Komoot alternative on the Fediverse!).

Due to a slow but steady growth, it was struggling recently with a low-spec infra (a Raspberry Pi). I've migrated the instance on a machine with much better specs and it runs way more smoothly now.

Nachdem ich mich auf meinem aktuellen #OpenSource-Trip von #Komoot verabschiedet habe, kann ich sagen, dass sich die Verwendung verschiedener Tools, die zusammen Komoot ersetzen, deutlich besser anfühlt, eben weil man selber Herr über die Daten bleibt.
- Routenplanung in #bikerouterde
- Speichern der Routen in der eigenen #Nextcloud
- Visualisierung in #umap/#openstreetmap
- Navi in #Osmand

Jede einzelne Applikation ist ersetzbar und sie alle arbeiten über Standards zusammen.

Yesterday, sunny spring is finally coming, so it was time to do a long road bike ride. I prepared my itinerary with #komoot, for exploring a new area: south of #brussels.

I avoided the large roads, but sometimes the road surface was challenging for my road bike.

Frage an die #homelab und #swlfhosting bubble: #dawarich und #wandererto wer von euch nutzt es regelmäßig und wie nutzt ihr es? Beides? Mit welchen Clients? Für welche Aktivitäten? Ich möchte weg von #komoot und das nutze ich bisher eher zur Dokumentation und weniger zur Planung oder unter Community Aspekten…

@witt_s Dein Beitrag bringt mich auf die Idee, es nach Jahren mal wieder mit Naviki zu versuchen.

Vielleicht mal bei einigen Strecken #Komoot und #Naviki gleichzeitig starten und somit gegeneinander antreten lassen. 💪

Es bräuchte ja im ersten Schritt nicht viel mehr als einen Ort, wo man #GPX-Dateien von Wanderrouten mit kleinen Beschreibungen versehen und austauschen kann. Gibt’s sowas? #Wandern

Why is Komoot acquisition by Bending Spoons presented to be soooo bad?

Sure, they fired a lot of people. But if they managed to do that AND finally did a modern redesign and started finally adding new features AND they do it at much faster pace than before, then my question is, what those people were doing there in the first place?

Sure, asking to subscribe all the time might be a bit annoying, but what's more?

Any recommendation for a tool for modifying a gpx track before uploading it to wanderer.to? I want to give the fediverse komoot alternative a shot. Modifying the track within the webapp seems not very convenient, though.

@Printdevil Indeed, they were bought out by private equity (Bending Spoons) end of last year.

#BendingSpoons are well-known for the #enshittification of companies in their portfolio. Their playbook is buy company → screw the employees (massive layoffs) → screw the customers (higher prices for a worse service) → vampirically suck all the value out for shareholders.

Bei mir hat das Syncen mit #Komoot mit der Integration eigentlich problemlos funktioniert. Das Einzige, was #Wanderer nicht mag, sind mehr als 29 #Listen.

Wie viele Touren hast du denn in Komoot?
Startet der Datenbankserver 1x neu oder in Dauerschleife?
Wie ist die Auslastung auf deinem #Dockerserver?

Ich kann beobachten, dass Wanderer in solchen Phasen wie dem Sync ziemlich ressourcenhungrig ist. In der schlechten Performances und mangelnder Skalierbarkeit steckt imho das größte Problem, das vermutlich durch die Anwendungen, auf die Wanderer aufbaut, verursacht wird. #Pocketbase, das auf #Sqlite setzt, ist vermutlich eine schlechte Wahl. 🤔🤷

Mit #brouter bin ich noch nie warm geworden. Außerdem will ich mehr als nur ein #Planungstool. Da war #Komoot (und in mancherlei Hinsicht ist es das noch) ein tolles Tool.

Aber zu #Wanderer:
a) das nutzt allen Ernstes eine #sqlite #Datenbank? 🤦‍♂️
b) docker compose exec -it db /pocketbase superuser upsert [email protected] myverysecurepassword funktioniert nicht (bleibt wirkungslos) - kein Login mit der Mailadresse und Passwort, die man angibt, möglich 🤷

Edit: Vielleicht liegt b) auch an dieser Inkonsistenz, auf die ich mit Docker ja keinen wirklichen Einfluss habe:

Ah cool. #wanderer kannte ich noch nicht. Muss ich mir unbedingt ansehen. Ich vermute aber, dass es da kaum Touren zu entdecken und sicher auch keine Funktion "ans GPS Gerät senden" gibt.

Allein die #Usability von #Komoot hat imho enorm gelitten:
Seit wann
a) werden einem bei gemachten Touren keine Untergrund Infos (Anteil an Singletrail etc.) mehr angezeigt?
b) kann man eine gemachte Tour nicht mehr ans Gerät senden/navigieren, ohne dass man daraus eine neue geplante Tour machen muss?
c) wird bei der Suche in der Liste der gefundenen Touren keine Vorschau in der Karte, sondern völlig uninformative Fotos angezeigt?

Komoot wird seit der Übernahme durch #BendingSpoons - Überraschung - schlechter statt besser.

Are there any first hand experiences in Komoot alternatives for route review and sharing?

What I practically need is a platform to share gpx tracks, visualize them on a rendered map and show geotagged JPGs in place as Komoot does.

PS: Open source with the ability to self host would be nice. But it's in no way necessary.

After Bending Spoons bought Evernote, you can safely mark 2022 as the product's date of death. They literally fired everyone who worked on it, killed the old non‑Electron app, raised prices to insane levels, and still pretend it's the same Evernote “we all knew” and even better.

Now they want $250/year just so I can keep my 5k+ notes accessible (the "Starter" plan doesn’t cut it). They even charge just to view your own notes. It’s absurd.

Recently they’ve also bought great products like Komoot, WeTransfer, and Issuu, and I bet they'll all face the same enshittification: mass layoffs of passionate teams and massive price hikes.

Evernote used to be a must‑have app - stable, powerful, and reliable (yes, not perfect).

Now it's a bloated ghost-app riding the AI hype while ignoring the basics that used to make it great.

Stay away from Evernote. Stay away from anything Bending Spoons touches.

#komoot now has a new heatmap feature that aggregates community traces onto a pink map overlay (for premium subscribers). it clearly shows that the user base seems heavily anchored in Central Europe. it definitely nurtures my itch to plan more bike tours around Europe!

Morgen geht’s nach #Amsterdam (90 km) um die Rückfahrt mit dem Zug zu organisieren.
