The truth is that a lot, if not most culture clashes happen because of our Trade Based Society. People are forced into migrating from one part to another on this semi-round rock. Combine that with the fact that most such humans are specialized workers who know little about the world or have no time to learn, and the mix is as good as putting 100 crying babies in one tiny room. Or 20 snakes, 30 goats, 2 lions, 23 alligators, and 14 otters. Plus 200 rats. Same room. You can even keep the crying babies there for fun.

I came to Catalonia because my parents were so poor they had to leave Romania and come work as slaves almost, in this Catalonian “paradise”. Better paid yes, but also overworked, illegal working contracts, badly treated.

When I came to Catalonia I did not care about their culture, or language. I didn’t even know they speak Catalan and not Spanish. As far as I knew, I came to Spain. I had no idea about Catalonia’s history, or Spain’s history, or anything else. I came here because of socio-economic pressures and was here to try to have a better life for myself and my family.

Do you think my father would give a flying fuck about the Catalan Culture when he was working 6-7 days a week, 12 hours a day? Look how he looked, like a zombie.

And we know countless people in very similar situations who came to Catalonia because of the same poverty reasons. From Europe, South America, Africa…

Is not easy to leave your family in Romania, let alone Africa, and come work in Catalonia in the tourism industry, or in a field somewhere picking up apples. This is hardly a choice…If these people would have had a good life in their tribes, for sure they would have stayed there.

My Bluebird Taxi driver this evening is from India. He's an older gentleman who loves gardening & we chatted about gardening/plants during the ride home. When arriving in front of our home - my taxi driver gasps at our front gardens & tells me how beautiful it is. I say thank you & tell him that we grow mostly flowers in front & food in the back. I told him I'm growing okra, ginger, watermelons & more! He tells me that he's not been successful with any watermelons & asked if he could see mine. I said, of course - I love showing people our gardens/plants! Took him around back for a brief gardens tour & he was impressed with what we have done so far. I gifted him one of my baby ginger plants 💚👩‍🌾😊

Summary/Review:

This collection of contemporary poetry touches on identity, particularly in Holnes’ experience as a Panamanian, an immigrant to the United States, a Black man, and a gay man.  Poems address political issues directly such as the 1989 US invasion of Panama, but also sensuality ranging from food to sex.  Poems also reflect on other works of art such as Michelangelo’s Pietà, Sleep by Kehinde Wiley,  Arroz Con Pollo by Jean-Michel Basquiat, as well as inspiration from the likes of Shakira, Naomi Campbell, and Rihanna.

#2 NiGHTS into Dreams…revisited – Way back in 1996, Sega released NiGHTS into Dreams… which was a very ambitious Sega Saturn video game made by the same key creators behind the popular Sonic games on Sega Genesis. Back in the old days, Sega was in a bind as it faced tough competition from Nintendo and Sony. That said, the company really had to make an exclusive game that is of very high quality, fun-filled gameplay and ambitious creative designs. #3 Ashleigh Burton reacts to The Animatrix – When it comes to entertainment in the year of 2003, The Matrix entertainment franchise really left its mark with the two hyped sequels The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions but also with the video game Enter The Matrix and the animated anthology The Animatrix. Released between the two live-action movies, The Animatrix featured several animated short stories of the Matrix universe done by different creators and each had different styles of art and visual concepts. The Animatrix also was designed to expand and explain the lore that delighted the fans while helping newcomers get oriented efficiently. #4 Japan opposes Islamic immigration – Let us be very clear here. Massive Islamic immigration is causing a lot of trouble in countries that accepted it. In Japan there is an obvious rise of criminal acts, public nuisance and other forms of problems caused by Islamist foreigners there. There were already rape acts committed by Pakistani men, a dumping of garbage committed by a man from Turkey and more. It is also obvious that the Muslim foreigners in Japan have no respect for Japanese culture, rules and social norms. #5 You, Me and the Movies react to Alligator (1980) – As a very young boy, I saw the 1980 film Alligator on a rented Betamax tape. I saw it alone during my first viewing, and later got a few friends to watch it with me on my second viewing. Alligator was one of those monster movies (AKA creature features) inspired by Steven Spielberg’s Jaws as several movie producers hoped to cash-in on the 1975 film’s popularity and the box office trends of the time. #5 When Hollywood Released Two Similar Movies In 1998 – Way back in 1998, moviegoers worldwide saw two movies from Hollywood that had similar concepts about the world getting hit by something from deep space. The movies were Deep Impact and Armageddon, and they were released in the same summer box office season in America. Deep Impact was more dramatic and tried hard to be believable while Armageddon was highly exaggerated and had Michael Bay’s flair all over it. The two films were released at a time when disaster movies had a resurgence and they used computer-generated images to make realize their respective visual concepts. #6 You, Me And The Movies React To Ghost In The Shell (1995) – There are many reasons why the 1995 anime feature film Ghost in the Shell is very significant. The adaptation of Masamune Shirow’s literary Ghost in the Shell was made with very high production values under the direction of Mamoru Oshii, the story had many futuristic concepts that became very relevant today, and it was very influential for many Hollywood filmmakers. That said, I liked how the anime feature film drew reactions from You, Me and the Movies, and their reaction video is a must-see!

#7 Casablanca Reaction Video Of EOM Reacts – There is nothing like watching a classic, black-and-white movie like Casablanca. Set in French Morocco, the story follows many characters dealing with the uncertainty of war and it is inside the nightclub and gambling den of American expatriate Rick Blaine where a lot of developments happened. The 1942 movie is memorable with its top-notch stars (Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman are phenomenal), the dramatic plot, the immersive settings and many iconic lines and moments. #8 Soba Getting Reinvented In Japan – Soba – a Japanese noodle made from buckwheat flour – is getting reinvented in Japan as the traditional shops there are struggling with the rising costs of ingredients as well as a growing shortage of successors to the operators. #10 Atari Jaguar CD Revisited – While I played a lot of games of Atari (both on Atari 2600 console and arcade games) in my life, I never owned an Atari Jaguar nor its CD-ROM add-on device. Indeed, there was a time in the 1990s when Atari got back in console gaming starting with the Jaguar console that operated with games in cartridge format. Palestinian Arrested In Quezon City For Stealing Money Bag

For some time now, I have been monitoring the criminal acts committed by people who are present in different countries as foreigners. Here in the Philippines, a Palestinian man was arrested in Quezon City for stealing a bag containing a lot of cash from the café of a hotel, according to a news report by the Manila Bulletin.

As it turns out, the Palestinian already has a history of committing other forms of crime. Could it be possible that, apart from violence and terrorism, theft and an obsession of committing crime are parts of the Palestinian nature?

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Bulletin news report. Some parts in boldface…

A 36-year-old Palestinian man was arrested after allegedly taking a money bag containing P5,020 and an empty cash box from a hotel café on Timog Avenue in Barangay South Triangle, Quezon City, at around 11:06 p.m. on Thursday, July 23.

The suspect, identified as “Ham,” was intercepted by hotel security personnel at the establishment’s exit after the incident was detected through the hotel’s CCTV monitoring system.

Initial investigation showed that the suspect entered the café and allegedly took the money bag and empty cash box without the knowledge or consent of the 24-year-old male cashier.

Recovered from the suspect were P5,020 in various peso bills and coins, the cash bag, the empty cash box, and a backpack.

Personnel of Kamuning Police Station (PS 10) later responded and took custody of the suspect from the hotel security personnel.

Further verification showed that the suspect had previous criminal records for estafa, unjust vexation, resistance and disobedience to a person in authority, use of a fictitious name, and concealing his true name in October 2025, as well as theft in May 2026.

On April 12, 2026, members of United Food and Commercial #Workers (#UFCW) Local 7 ratified a new agreement with the JBS Swift beef processing plant in Greeley, #Colorado. A #union press release announcing the vote — with 93% in favor — said the contract contained "all gains, countless improvements, and not a single concession."

"This ... is a testament to the incredible resolve of our members," said Local 7 president Kim Cordova. "These workers stood together on the picket line for three weeks, through extreme weather, because they knew their worth and refused to be disrespected."

"Two years ago, I learned the infamous #KuKluxKlan exploded in popularity throughout Maine during its resurgence in the 1920s. Across the United States, the terrorist group amassed hundreds of thousands of new followers in a rather clever dissemblance as a community service and fraternal organization. At one point, in fact, approximately 30% of Maine’s native-born population were enrolled members of the KKK. Yet they did not target Somali-Americans, people on work visas, or permanent residents from Africa — they vehemently attacked the people we now call Franco-Americans.

"Prominent Franco communities in #LewistonME, #RumfordME, #OldTownME, #AugustaME, and #WatervilleME, called 'petits Canadas,' became targets of violence for the #KKK.

"One local history of the Franco-American community of Old Town recounts a horrific stand-off at French Island: holding torches and weapons, a mob of angry klansmen attempted to cross the bridge onto the island in order to burn it down. Only the rapid efforts of men in the community to block the bridge physically kept the island from going up in flames.

"And yet, I hear many of my Franco relatives talk poorly about immigrants. They repeat similar slogans to the ones President Donald Trump spreads about immigrants who come from Africa, particularly those from East Africa: “they shouldn’t be here … Somalia is not even a country” Animus defines how many Franco-Americans understand immigrants, the people who stand in the very same place their ancestors once stood a couple generations ago.

"Do not forget that our #WhitePrivilege came at a great historical cost in the forms of systemic French language suppression, decades of shameful stereotypes, and barriers to higher education. For almost 70 years, the state of Maine had a legislative policy of only offering public education in English. We must remember our ancestors, the memères and pepères who endured the same xenophobic insults immigrants in America face today."
