  1. @Masegod60

Indeed we don't respect your electorate anymore.

It voted for president a convicted felon and abuser who bankrupted several companies and wasn't, by court order, even allowed to run a charity anymore.

Who would vote for somebody like that?

Since it was the second time, slowly we start to realize that maybe this is what America is, what America stands for.

  3. This is Kos Samaras’ #analysis of the #AUstralian #ELectorate:
“Gen Z is the most socially progressive generation in Australian history. On climate, on gender, on multiculturalism, on sexuality, the debates that consumed their parents are simply settled questions for them.

However – and this is where most commentary gets them wrong – their progressivism is not primarily cultural. It is economic. This is a generation psychologically predisposed to economic populism: hostile to concentrated wealth, cynical about corporate power, convinced the housing market is rigged (because it is, against them) and increasingly comfortable with state intervention that would have made their Gen X parents flinch. They want someone to name the enemy, and the enemy they recognise is not the migrant or the welfare recipient. It’s the landlord, the bank, the supermarket duopoly.

This is why right-wing populism keeps bouncing off them. One Nation is currently discovering its ceiling: Gen Z is a large part of what that ceiling is made of. In our research, only around one in 10 of this cohort will entertain a One Nation vote; among young women, the figure collapses into the single digits. Gen Z women are, on our data, the most progressive demographic segment ever measured in this country. The gender gap inside this generation is real and widening but note what the gap is between: young women who are hyper-progressive, and young men who are, mostly still progressive, just less so. The manosphere drift among a minority of young men is real and worth watching but it’s still a minority. It is not, on current evidence, an electoral majority-maker for the populist right in Australia the way it has been elsewhere.”

I’m a #Boomer, so I can’t validate this from my own perspective. Any #GenZ out there willing to comment on any of the statements above? I’d be interested in reading about them.

  5. All you Anarcho- #communists or Uber- #socialists or self righteous whatevers who live in countries with a #parliamentary system that allows you to vote for your impotent fringe party WHICH WILL NEVER RULE YOUR COUNTRY, how nice for you. We don't have that luxury (privilege) in the #US. Our system could be better, but not by demolishing it and hoping something idyllic grows out of the ashes. That is a fucking ridiculous pipe dream. If the US quasi- #democracy crumbles completely, it will be replaced by all those #corporations you hate so much, and they will have the US #military at their disposal, and you will be fucked. The ONLY way the USA gets better is by the US #electorate making educated choices. Our system is designed to change slowly, as it should be. It is people who want everything now who are holding us back. Even the best of the Left understand that. Listen to #Mamdani, #OcasioCortez, #Sanders et al. They learned how the system works instead of staying home and whining.

    Кого ви обрали, люди?
Явлення людству, практично біблійного, очікуваного, світового рівня, від якого нікуди подітися — йолопа, який впливає на життя кожного з нас

  8. Perhaps the biggest challenge for #democracy today is how easily it seems the #electorate can be manipulated.

  11. @madeindex The binary political "choice" in #America has long been poisoned and, imho, is now effectively gamed away from the #electorate - does one wo/man one vote in the 21st century still hold the same power as it did in the 20th century?

  13. This article has some great charts & graphs, showing the breakdown in early voters.
TODAY by NOON, checkins (including early votes) has BLOWN AWAY recent mayoral races, 1.2M votes total!
We will likely see totals which will compare w/ the record-breaking races of 1965, '69: 2.6M, 2.46M votes (81%!).
Early voters younger than 44 were a huge surprise this time...

  15. The Libs (( and the Greens )) should lose "The Sneer".

""The Liberals are in danger of becoming the Kodak of Australian politics. They are certainly in the deepest crisis since their formation in 1944. It is hackneyed to point out that this is not the party of Menzies, but that does not make the claim untrue.""

An Interesting read by Frank Bongiorno.

The parenthesized greens is my "work".

*The John Gorton Quote is stunning.*

The Nats are same old same old always sooking, always the victim, even now.

  21. @LovesTha

    & sticking with the #Scottish flavour of this #electorate in this election, #TheGreens are running #McRae #McLeod, the #Libs are running a candidate named #McClintock & sitting #Labor member is a #Mitchell.

I’m expecting door to door Haggis knocking in the seat of #McEwen this year.

I’ll break out my Clan tartan on election day. #auspol

  22. ⬆️ @GreenFire

It's charming how close we are to convergence except where we diverge, or are asymptotic at best 🙂

#Media, #electorate, #Russia, #Iran, #Hamas, #BDS, #JVP, #GreenParty — ALL had a role to play, but none of them were responsible for #DOJ — and THAT's the problem, separate from all of the above, that we disagree on.

#Biden should've kept DOJ independent & impartial, but he tilted it in #Trump's favor just to appear impartial.

Bringing a criminal to justice is not weaponization

  23. @newyorktimes @politics-newyorktimes
Who really cares about rule of law in the #USA

With the last election, the US #electorate made clear that the rule of law does not really matter to them.

Good old USA literally voted in a felon as President.

That would be the guy who claimed that he could be murdering people down in the street, and it would not cost him one voter.

Of what relevance is rule of law in the USA?

  25. @VulcanTourist @chiclet @mastodonmigration

there is no such thing as a #voting system which perfectly captures the intentions of the #electorate

all you can do is do better, and #rcv is better than #fptp. so we choose better

it's not about perfection. it never was and never will be

(there's voting systems even better than #rankedchoicevote, like #singletransferablevote, but the momentum in the #usa right now is behind ranked choice #vote, so we go for that, for now)

  27. You think #Germany just couldn't reign in #ElonMusk with his hate-platform #Twitter the same way #France did with #PavelDurov and #Telegram?

Because Elmo runs a big factory in Germany with lot's of jobs?

Well, better take a look at #Article15 of the german #constitution (#Grundgesetz).

The very day our #electorate picks some non-chicken for a change, all the oh so mighty power of that sucker vanishes over night.
