Solidariteitsactie met Jemenitische vluchtelingen
IND-loket, Den Haag, vrijdag 15 mei om 14:30 CEST
Sinds 29 april houden Jemenitische vluchtelingen uit allerlei azc’s in het land een doorlopend sit in-protest bij het IND-loket aan de Rijnstraat 8 in Den Haag. Dat protest vindt letterlijk elke dag plaats van 9:00 tot 17:00 uur en duurt tot 30 juni. Op 15 mei organiseren de vluchtelingen op die plek een solidariteitsactie van 14:30 tot 17:00 uur, waar mensen welkom zijn die de strijd van de Jemenitische vluchtelingen willen steunen. Wees solidair met de vluchtelingen en doe mee met de actie!
De Jemenitische vluchtelingen “eisen eerlijke asielprocedures en meer erkenning van de aanhoudende oorlog, de humanitaire crisis en de onveilige omstandigheden in Jemen”, aldus de oproeptekst. “Recente rechterlijke uitspraken en internationale rapporten blijven aanleiding geven tot bezorgdheid over de huidige beoordeling van de situatie in Jemen en het grote aantal afgewezen asielaanvragen, ondanks de verslechterende omstandigheden in het land. Daarom roepen we iedereen op om zich aan te sluiten en solidariteit te betuigen met de Jemenitische vluchtelingen in hun oproep tot gerechtigheid, waardigheid en menselijkheid.”

Op 16 mei organiseren anti-AZC groepen een landelijke demonstratie in meerdere steden, waaronder Groningen.
Onder slogans als “vol = vol” worden vluchtelingen en migranten steeds vaker neergezet als probleem, terwijl we in heel Nederland zien hoe dit soort retoriek leidt tot intimidatie, racisme en verdeeldheid.
Daarom komen wij samen voor een vreedzame tegendemonstratie.
Wij geloven in solidariteit, menselijkheid en een stad waar iedereen veilig moet kunnen zijn, ongeacht afkomst, religie of verblijfsstatus.

On May 16, anti-refugee and anti-migrant groups are organizing a nationwide demonstration in multiple cities, including Groningen.

Life used to feel so simple. We had ordinary things that we never realized were such blessings.
Today, under the rubble, I found my washing machine… and suddenly I remembered how much comfort it once brought me while washing my children’s clothes in our warm home.
I stood there comparing my life now to the life I once had, and tears rolled down my face without me noticing.
How did we go from having a home, safety, furniture, and a normal life… to living in tents surrounded by heat, exhaustion, and loss?
We are human beings. We are not asking for miracles… we only want a normal life and a little mercy. 💔

Auf dem Podium im Schauspielhaus geht es um die Situation an dieser europäischen Aussengrenze und den Widerstand dagegen. Es sprechen der Aktivist David #Yambio, Mitgründer und Sprecher von Refugees in Libya, und die Juristin Miriam Saage-Maaß vom European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR) - moderiert von Carlos Hanimann (Republik).
Die beiden sind involviert in eine Klage am internationalen Strafgerichtshof. Sie werfen libyschen und europäischen Akteur:innen Verbrechen gegen die Menschlichkeit an diesen Aussengrenzen vor. Kann eine solche Klage die Situation verändern? Und warum darf der Widerstand nicht in den Gerichtssälen enden?

The heat is unbearable… it feels like hell on earth.
Can you imagine living day and night without even a sip of cold water?
The water is hot, insects are everywhere, and rashes and skin allergies have spread across our bodies because of the extreme heat and pollution.
Many of us have reached a point where death feels easier than continuing this painful life… even when food is available, it spoils quickly because of the intense heat.
