This is very lowkey and we are not certain yet. BUT we're thinking about renting out the Ranch, really only to other artists/makers/stewards since it's currently not in shape to go on the open market and we lack the funds to get it there. The reason I'm putting this out here a bit pre-emptively is not so that I can disappoint you later with yet another change of mind, but so that I can see if anyone could be interested. This is going out quietly to our local community, too, but though most of you are not local I do know that there are folks out there for whom access to land is a dream, so it's something I'm putting out here nonetheless in case it reaches you, the dreamer!
Basically, it's a 1 bed, 1 bath house though currently some work needs to be done to get the interior shower working again. There's an outdoor shower, outdoor bathrooms, four camper trailers for either you or guests, and it's 5.75ish acres, a little more than 5 of which is fenced. There's a chicken coop, rabbitry which could also double as an aviary, and a pen that could hold growout pigs or a handful of sheep, mini goats, or even a tortoise if you're into that. If we were to rent it, we'd be removing the animals -- but whoever rents it would have free reign to raise their own if desired, or not. We've planted almost thirty trees and a plethora of other perennials, worked the soil quite a bit, and there's lots of opportunity to grow things and continue doing composting and so on. The main bedroom has been converted into a killer art studio, the trailers are on solar for living, and there's a workshop for either more studio space or storage. Renters could sublet trailers, host events, make art, plant things, and make it their own. You'd be renting from artists who love the place and not landlords, and helping us hold onto the land to save it from potential development were it to be sold.

Again, our local community will get priority and nothing has been fully decided. BUT if you need a change, some space, a new community, access to land to try out your own dreams of a collective -- let us know. We're facing down some huge changes, and we're trying to make the right choices, and we don't want to sell, but need to know what our options are. I covered my chopped nitrogen fixers with veggie scrap #compost. We’re expecting several days of rain starting tomorrow so that should break everything down really nicely.
I’ve never had luck growing food in our veggie compost without adding organic fertilizer. Let’s see if nitro fixing changes things.
In the meantime, I’ll start seeds to transplant into the bed and then mulch it. If you have any questions about this #permaculture experiment, read upthread. @gardening

I chopped and dropped my cowpea & sunn hemp patch today. The hemp were 7’ tall and beginning to put out flower buds. The peas were beginning to vine, flower and I had a few pea pods. It felt like time.
Tomorrow I will cover the clippings with #compost and let the bed sit until I’m ready to plant. Part of me is pessimistic that this will work well because I find #permaculture #gardening to be easily explained but difficult to practice. Maybe I will be surprised. 🧵 @gardening

Hello you UK #permaculture #OrganicGardening #Allotment folk. I have hundreds of bulbils from some perennial Babbington Leeks. I shared some locally last year with instructions for growers to save some of bulbils to pass on .. so.. there are lots around here already. If anyone wants some, I'm happy to post some out in return for a small donation to the community project I run to cover postage costs.

Again a little visitor joined us on the farm today.
Seeing a frog among our crops is a beautiful reminder that a healthy farm is more than just plants it is an ecosystem. Frogs help control insects and are part of the biodiversity we want to protect.
