"🚨 URGENT APPEAL: AHMED NEEDS OUR HELP TO SURVIVE.

While European authorities continue to fund border externalization and expand FRONTEX’s reach, in Tripoli the situation is escalating dangerously: open incitement, explicit threats of armed violence, and targeted attacks against Black migrants operated by armed groups and xenophobic movements.

Ahmed Umer is a direct victim of this escalating violence.

The hospital is refusing to perform the life-saving surgery he urgently needs unless 40,000 dinars (€5,600) is paid immediately.

An Ethiopian worker who has lived in Libya for three years, Ahmed was abducted from his workplace by armed militiamen and shot three times. He now lies with a bullet still lodged in his leg, suffering from unbearable pain and severe medical neglect.

His wound dressings haven’t been changed in 26 days.

    🚑 DONATE
Every contribution directly helps cover the €5,600 required for Ahmed’s emergency surgery.

    "FORTRESS EUROPE WILL FALL!

    What is Fortress Europe?

We use "Fortress Europe" as a metaphor to denounce Europe's attempts to further control, surveil and violently repress people designated as migrants.

From the Dublin Convention (1990) to the Asylum Pact (12.06.2026), this terms allows us to quality the ways through which flows of migration and borders are managed to meet the needs of the European Union and its markets.

Throughout the Fortress' history, it's clear that Europe's priority has always been to maximize profit at the cost of migrants' lives.

From slavery to "guest workers" programs, European countries has always balanced the need for a cheap and expandable workforce with racist ideologies that presents Europe as under siege by migrants.

Today, this balancing act is taking a new form, as companies and states are increasingly building a new economy around surveilling, detaining and deporting migrants.

Whether it is through deals with neighbouring countries to conduct pushbacks and manage offshore detention, Or with technological companies such as Palantir to expand biometric databases.

Four years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the first fence of Fortress Europe was built in Sebta (Ceuta) in 1993. Two years later the Schengen Agreement was implemented, allowing the freedom of movement for European citizens within the Union and creating a shared external border.

From the start, Europe's border was presented as in need of defence. This led to the the introduction of stricter visa regulations and asylum procedures, the militarization of borders through increased policing and border controls, and the criminalisation of undocumented migrants residing in Europe.

While the 1990s laid the foundation for Fortress Europe, the construction of the refugee crisis" renewed it. Throughout the 2010s, European politicians made use of an increase in migration to present an image of Europe under siege.

Drawing on racism and Islamophobia, these politicians framed migration as an existential threat to European values, paving the way for increased violence towards migrants. Since then, there has beet at least 70,000 deaths along Europe's borders.

Today, the walls of Fortress Europe's walls are higher than ever. On the 17th of June, 2026 members of the European parliament chanted "send them back" after passing a vote that seeks to make it easier to detain and deport migrants.

To make this a reality, millions of euros are being redirected to border agencies and police, detention and deportation infrastructures, and technologies of mass surveillance.

Join us on 27-29th November for the first a mass action against borders in Belgium - until brick by brick, wall by wall, we make Fortress Europe fall!"

"THEY SURVIVED WAR AND THE BORDER TOGETHER. NOW, L. FACES DECADES IN PRISON

    Heraklion, Crete
    08.10.26

Tomorrow, in Heraklion, 13 people will stand trial on "smuggling" charges. One of them is L., 24 years old from South Sudan, criminalized for seeking asylum. He and his wife traveled together, and they have a child. Back home, he worked as a car mechanic and driver. When the war made life impossible, they left for Libya to work and to find a way to safety.

In Libya, they managed to work enough to pay for the deadly and dangerous trip to Greece, which cost them tens of thousands of Libyan dinars. Despite the high payment and the risk, L. was threatened and forced to take the GPS on board. For this reason, once they managed to survive the crossing and reached Greece, he was separated from his wife and arrested on "smuggling" charges.

NOW, HE IS FACING DECADES IN PRISON.

But he is not the only one whose freedom has been taken. Separated from him, his wife is now alone in a foreign country while her husband sits in prison, unjustly. She says: "I don't have anyone else here. My husband is the one who takes good care of me. I am nothing without him." She also suffers from a heart condition and really needs his support. On the day of the trial, she will go testify on his behalf.

Thanks to your support, we could pay for her travel and for L's legal fees.

Please donate if you can so we can support more people like L. and his wife!

    SHARE OUR DEMANDS:

    • L. should be acquitted and reunited with his wife.

    • Asylum seekers should not be criminalized for seeking safety!

    FREE L.!
    FREE THEM ALL!"
