@ekis @[email protected] I often work with monorepos like the #AzureSDK for #Go. That's when git worktrees and sparse checkouts can help reduce checkout time and drive space exhaustion. Check out https://heaths.dev/tips/2022/06/18/reduce-fetch-and-checkout-times-in-git.html for some tips. I should probably update that to mention worktrees too, though that really just helps reduce cloning time and minimizes disk space.
One advantage is having different copies of dependencies in different states, though I wonder how often that's a problem.

It's interesting how two different points of view can create a lot of confusion. For a very long time, I thought a sparse set is a replacement for a dictionary <int, T> while in reality is more like an efficient data structure for set operations. Faster than hashmaps or BitArray. btw I am super curious about testing roaring bitmaps, any experience?

🌀 A spirograph and quantum mechanics
While playing with a spirograph, we noticed something unexpectedly useful.
Simple mechanical constraints — rotation, phase relationships, and boundaries — generate nodal structures and dense/sparse regions that look strikingly like quantum probability distributions.
This doesn’t replace quantum mechanics, and it doesn’t claim electrons trace literal paths.
But it does raise an important question: if probability distributions emerge from constraints and interference, shouldn’t we be explicit about what those constraints are?

It is still surprising to realise what one can make of such events, if they are set up well.

BeetBear and I went out this morning to see what could be done to get the season moving. First up he paid his respects to what he calls the "Bear Tulips" (crocus). They had a bad winter and are very sparse this year. We'll have to plant more this fall... He also checked on the rhubarb, which is just starting to emerge. Now we move on to business. More later

Both have made serious progress in serious Erdős problems.

Maybe connected to my re-reading _Fellowship of the Ring_ (which involves a lot of wandering around weird forests) but the more I read the second edition of #Cairn #cairn2e the more I think it's amazing stuff. 1e could reasonably be criticised for being a bit sparse on direction and theme but 2e not only has terrific backgrounds but also some of the best GM and prep advice around - including examples of play, which many modern games lack, to their detriment.
