TITLE: A Little Movement in Midlife Could Pay Off for Your Brain Years Later

    URL: socialpsychology.org/client/re

Source: Science Daily - Top Health

Physical activity and healthy blood sugar levels during midlife may be linked to a significantly slowing of cognitive decline decades later. Yet the results, published in the journal Alzheimer's, differed across ethnic populations. Physical activity was associated with slower cognitive decline among Hispanic participants, whereas lower fasting blood glucose levels were linked to slower cognitive decline among non-Hispanic White participants.

TITLE: Exercise may help the aging brain “take out the trash”

    URL: sciencedaily.com/releases/2026

Regular exercise may help the brain clear away harmful waste that can build up with age. Researchers found that physical activity supports several processes linked to the brain’s glymphatic cleanup system, including better sleep, lower inflammation, and healthier blood vessels. Because this waste-removal system becomes increasingly important as we get older, exercise could play a meaningful role in protecting against cognitive decline.

  7. RE: neuromatch.social/@neurofronti

My first attempt at posting a random neuro factoid every day for a year didn't go very far. I made it for 16 days, to be more precise. In all honesty, I severely underestimated how demanding starting a new role would be.
But I finally feel more settled and ready to give it another shot and see how far I can get this time. So attempt #2 starts here.
Day 1: Engaging in physical activity is one of the best things you can do for your brain health. Working out improves processing speed, learning capacity, and memory. It tends to decrease depressive symptoms and improve mood. And it has indirect effects on brain health by helping with stress reduction, potentially being a social activity, helping you make healthier food choices, and improving sleep.

  8. Exercise can provide a myriad of benefits, but it's hard to fit enough exercise into your daily life to reap the full health benefits. This is particularly true (and particularly important!) for people who have had a stroke, brain injury, or diagnosis of other neurological conditions.

I was thrilled to join Dr. Jyutika Mehta for a conversation with Dean Catrine Tudor-Locke to discuss how exercise can help with neurorecovery, recent research on physical activity assessment, tips that can help clinicians, patients, or caregivers set realistic goals, and new innovations for quantifying and tracking movement.

While waiting on delayed trains and/or after getting off delayed trains I was wondeting whether anyone thought about putting fitness gear on platforms? Wouldn't that be a good place for #PhysicalActivity promotion?*

Any projects like that around, @jasemrau ?
