In a controlled trial of 215 pregnant Ecuadorean women, the treatment group was provided with a diet that was presumed to conform to ancestral norms from 12 weeks to birth. An *in vitro* study found that human embryonic stem cells lost their ability to develop normally when exposed to vanillin. These tests were carried out because vanillin is commonly present in e-cigarettes, and vaping has been associated with difficulty conceiving and with miscarriage.

Today I finished watching the documentary A Child of My Own about Eleonor Alejandra Marín Mendoza who, after years of fertility troubles, faked a pregnancy, stole a newborn from a hospital in Mexico, and tried to pass the baby off as her own.
Has anyone else here seen it? It was a sad story for everyone involved.
I like the way that documentaries can explore rare things like this, though. Our world is an interesting place.
