When you drive from Nambucca Valley to the Coffs Harbour regions you can see giant white plastic nets enclosing blueberries, raspberries and blackberries plantations. There are toxic chemicals on some berries, the water and the area.

"Blueberry farming has boomed in NSW, including in the Nambucca Valley, as minimal red tape is required to set up. Blueberry farms can be started without formal registration or oversight, making it hard for authorities to track pesticide use. Since January 2022, the EPA has prosecuted 21 pesticide-related incidents across a range of crops in local courts across NSW... The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) announced a review into the use of dimethoate on blueberries, raspberries and blackberries."

Doc says my #cholesterol is high. Bloodwork agrees.
I eat a lot of vegetables, but I figure I can/should get more fiber. So I've added a meal to my #breakfast rotation with these approximate ratios:
Half cup of #GreekYogurt (Fage 2%)
3/4 cup of #GrapeNuts cereal
Cup of #blueberries
Half cup of unsalted mixed #nuts
Handful of #PineNuts
A cup of milkIt's no fishy ramen, but still not a bad way to start off the day. Easy to swap in different fruits, or to add a spoonful of honey to the mix.

"'Strawberries usually escape,' Handley said. 'We don't see it in high numbers until we're pretty much done with strawberries. It's the people who are growing fall #raspberries and late-ripening #blueberries that usually have the big issue with this one.'
"Handley is a vegetable and small fruit specialist.
"He believes the relatively #MildWinter, combined with an unusually hot June, led to the early rise of fruit flies in the greater Portland area."
