Physical activity and healthy blood sugar levels during midlife may be linked to a significantly slowing of cognitive decline decades later. 2. #LongevityResearch: The complex role of protein in aging. 🔬

Protein is essential for preventing #sarcopenia in old age, but there's a trade-off regarding longevity signaling pathways. We examine the tension between mTOR/IGF-1 activation (anabolic, potentially pro-cancer) and the necessary stimulation against anabolic resistance in seniors.

  3. New preclinical research shows psilocybin’s metabolite psilocin can extend cellular lifespan by over 50% in human skin and lung cells and improved survival in aged mice. Promising for longevity research, but human trials are required to confirm safety and effectiveness.
