"AUX TROIS BAINS"
DIY LABORATOIRE PHOTOGRAPHIQUEReprise de mes travaux dans mon laboratoire photographique maison.
Après quelques mois d'expérimentation de la technique du sténopé, je reprends la pratique de tirages classiques de pellicule.
J'ai le plaisir de tester mon nouvel agrandisseur OMAG (6x6 et 24x36).

THE SMASHING PUMPKINS
Adore
2026 Worldwide 2xLP reissueI’m taking my teenage son to see the Pumpkins in Vancouver in November, and I’m really excited for him.
To prepare, we’re wading through the albums in their discography that he’s NOT familiar with (everything except Siamese Dream, Pisces, Mellon Collie).
We listened to Gish the other night, & now, we have come to Adore. For me, Adore is a little heavy handed at times, but not without its charms.
The great songs are GREAT.So far, my son’s reaction to it is…surprised.
His initial thoughts were that it feels really pulled back, which I fully agree with.
The usual walls of distorted guitars are replaced by more keyboards, drum machines, and dare I say.. restrained (?) percussion and rhythm?
The result is a darker, but more spacious Pumpkins.

THE TUBS
Dead Meat
2023 U.S. pressingFor the last 3 years, I’ve been having a passionate love affair with The Tubs.
It was absolute love at first listen, & they are without a doubt my favorite band of the past 10 years, and it’s not even close.
This was their 1st album, & it was the first one I heard.
Like the following two albums, the songs are wonderfully constructed; jangly, catchy, and heartfelt.Their sense of melody is some upper- echelon shit, the lyrics are great, the rhythm section is fantastic… everything about this band is just fantastic.
Not a single bad (or even AVERAGE) song in their entire catalog. If you don’t know The Tubs, please get to.
Start with Dead Meat.
You’ll be glad you did, I promise. It always ends up that THESE kinds of bands don’t last long.
I’m hoping that’s not the case with The Tubs.
Amazing shit.#vinyl #vinylrecords #vinylcommunity #records #vintage #retro #physicalmedia #analog #vinylcollection #art #music #indie #alternative #thetubs

THE MOLES
Instinct
2026 Worldwide RSD reissue
Ltd. Edition Green vinylSO happy that they finally reissued this fantastic album, as it was in DIRE need of one.
Technically, this is a Moles album in name only, serving more as the first solo album by head Mole Richard Davies. The band had already broken up before this album was cut loose in ‘94, the same year Davies’ OTHER project Cardinal (with Eric Matthews) unleashed IT’S incredible album.
Instinct was put together from songs the band was in the middle of sorting out when they split. They are baroque #psychedelic chamber pop songs wearing very lo-fi punk clothes.
At 9 songs lasting 23 minutes, this is definitely quality over quantity. It is a tight, wonderfully put together set of bite-sized #indie pop songs.
Also of note: Hamish Kilgour of the New Zealand band The Clean plays drums.
Great little record.

GOMEZ
Bring It On
2025 UK 2xLP reissue
Red Transparent vinylThis is really the only Gomez album I’ve ever had any kind of love for, but man do I love it.
For me, they were a band whose subsequent records got progressively worse as they went forward, but THIS is a hell of a great album. The opening track “Get Miles” is amongst my favorite album opening cuts ever, “Tijuana Lady” is a stunningly beautiful song, and “78 Stone Wobble” has always been super-fun.
Ian Ball’s vocals on “Get Miles” are gruff and killer as hell.
I’ve always appreciated that they have THREE dudes who are capable of singing really well. This is just a “lightning in a bottle” kind of album that has a special magic to it that is severely lacking in their other material.
And I say this as a VERY outsider listener, as I’m unaware of their standing with British music connoisseurs.

STOMPIN’ TOM CONNORS
Souvenirs
1980 Canada pressingA little bit of comfort music after a long, shitty day.
It’s a night to have ‘ole STC sing me to sleep. When I first moved to the island back in ‘07, the first VERY Canadian thing I fell in love with was the music of Stompin’ Tom Connors.
In a way, I got a lot of my education on Canada (both geographically and culturally) by listening to Tom albums.
As somebody who grew up with several aunts & uncles who adored country western music, I knew enough about legitimate #country to know that Tom was THE SHIT, & very much the authentic real deal.
My love for him has been illustrated on this Masto many times, and he remains my favorite Canadian artist of all time.
This is a country who’s produced Neil Young and Rush, so let that sink in.
That should tell you a lot about my love for STC.GREAT COMPILATION OF TOM HITS!
