...and sad to get home from the concert to find out Dave Ball has died. Between him and Vince Clarke, they accidentally wrote the book on 80s electropop. Much copied, never bettered. A tribute track for Dave Ball from Soft Cell, who sadly died yesterday.
While the seminal Tainted Love was an era and career defining tune I've always had a fondness for this track. It feels like being at a party, with whoops and whistles going on around you as the infectious synth motif drives you along. I've always been struck by the synth pad sound during the chorus, which could have been lifted off of a 90s Techno track, even though it was recorded in 1982.
RIP Dave, you made an indelible mark on music :bb:
