Im Grunde höre ich ja gerne eher ruhige Musik, und oft genug braucht sie nicht mal einen Text. Aber es gibt Tage, das breche ich mit meinen Gewohnheiten, weil ich vielleicht schlechte Laune habe, oder es einfach mal ein bisschen lauter als gewohnt brauche. Dann ist das Album Meteora von Linkin Park immer wieder und gerne die Vinyl, die ich auf den Plattenteller lege. Ich mag den kräftigen Wechsel zwischen Rock und Elektronik, zwischen Rap und aggressivem Gesang. Und gerade letzteres ist das herausstechende Merkmal, warum ich Linkin Park immer gern gehört habe. Chester Bennington vermochte es wie kein zweiter, Emotionen so offen und schonungslos im Gesang darzustellen. Das ganze Album ist vielleicht gerade wegen der Verbindung so vieler verschiedener Stile wie Metal, Rock, Electronic, Rap und Pop erstaunlich ausgewogen und macht einfach Spaß zu hören. Die Texte von Mike Shinoda, aber insbesondere von Chester Bennington sprechen manchmal aus der Seele, die Emotionen sind greifbar, nachvollziehbar, und man ist geneigt, immer wieder zustimmend zu nicken: „Recht hat er!“ Mein Lieblingsstück ist eigentlich ein schweres Lied über Drogenmissbrauch, das Chester Bennington unglaublich emotional vorträgt: Breaking the habit. Aber auch die erfolgreichste Auskopplung Numb passiert immer wieder gern meine Gehörgänge.
