Die Geschichte vom gescheiterten Herrscher, die das Stück beschreibt, und die orchestrale, hymnische Melodie begeistern mich bis heute. Tatsächlich lasse ich mich seit Jahren von diesem Lied wecken. Was das über mich aussagt, weiß ich allerdings auch nicht…
Wenn ich dieses Album mit den anderen vergleiche, die von Coldplay noch in meinem Plattenschränkchen stehen, sticht es mit seinem sehr orchestralen und weniger melancholischen Klang doch heraus. Ich mag das Album, und Titel wie Viva la Vida und Lost finden mehr oder weniger regelmäßig ihren Weg durch meine Gehörgänge. Die anderen Alben mögen mehr was für die Masse und die Konzertgänger sein, aber Viva la Vida eignet sich meiner Ansicht nach besser, um in den eigenen vier Wänden (und vielleicht auch über Kopfhörer) genossen zu werden, während ich einen historischen Roman lese.
