Wenn ich mich recht erinnere, war es Viva la Vida von Coldplay, was ich als erstes von Chris Martin und seiner Band gehört habe. Die Geschichte vom gescheiterten Herrscher, die das Stück beschreibt, und die orchestrale, hymnische Melodie begeistern mich bis heute. Tatsächlich lasse ich mich seit Jahren von diesem Lied wecken. Was das über mich aussagt, weiß ich allerdings auch nicht…
Wenn ich dieses Album mit den anderen vergleiche, die von Coldplay noch in meinem Plattenschränkchen stehen, sticht es mit seinem sehr orchestralen und weniger melancholischen Klang doch heraus. Ich mag das Album, und Titel wie Viva la Vida und Lost finden mehr oder weniger regelmäßig ihren Weg durch meine Gehörgänge. Die anderen Alben mögen mehr was für die Masse und die Konzertgänger sein, aber Viva la Vida eignet sich meiner Ansicht nach besser, um in den eigenen vier Wänden (und vielleicht auch über Kopfhörer) genossen zu werden, während ich einen historischen Roman lese.

It was recorded at Compass Point in the Bahamas and produced by Phil Ramone (who also produced his debut). First Sunday sounds coming from Miles Davis - Kind of Blue. This is the MoFi Box and while not the worst I’ve heard this album, it’s certainly quite far from the best too.
Compared to the all analogue chain pressing that was done in 2013 for RSD, this one is a bit of a mess.
First it was a Tape to DSD64 to Record process, it’s also full of pressing issues which were never caught in the QC which is a shame.
My own copy while not too bad, it does have some issues with record 2, the spindle hole is slightly off leading to miss tracking and slight distortion especially in the miss on the outer edge of the record. It’s also quite a noisy record too.

David Byrne & St. Vincent, Love This Giant, 2012 on 4AD
Two of the most creative and eclectic artists and musicians collaborate here on a brass-band heavy record. (St. Vincent also contributed to Here Lies Love, Byrne’s collaboration with Fatboy Slim – a concept album / rock musical about Imelda Marcos).
The Dap-Kings and the Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra join on “The One Who Broke Your Heart” and John Congleton co-produced with Byrne, St. Vincent (Annie Clark), and Patrick Dillett.
Fantastic album – unexpected but once you get to know it you can’t imagine how it could be any better.
