44 years ago today, May 15, 1982, Johnny Lee debuted at #66 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart with “When You Fall in Love”. It went on to peak at #14 and spent a total of 13 weeks on the chart.
This era of music feels like home sweet home to me and will always feel that way. As long as I’m still breathing, these songs will feel like good friends.

Heute dreht sich auf dem Plattenteller ein Album, das so viele gute Songs auf sich vereint, dass ich kaum sagen kann, welches mein Lieblingstrack ist. X & Y wartet mit allem auf, was ich an Coldplay so mag. Chris Martins Texte von Leben, Liebe, Leid, von Kommunikation und Reisen durch Raum und Zeit, dazu die Gitarre von Jon Buckland, deren Klang ich ebenso beinahe überall heraushöre wie jene von Mark Knopfler oder Eric Clapton. Stellenweise erinnert das Album an U2, R.E.M. oder (steht sogar in den Credits) Kraftwerk. Aber Chris Martin hat mit seinen Texten einen ganz eigenen Stil, und seine Band packt all die Emotionen gekonnt in großartige Melodien. Fix you, Talk und Speed of Sound kennen wir sicher aus dem Radio, und sie gehören zweifelsohne zu meinen Lieblingsstücken auf diesem Album, aber auch Swallowed by the Sea und Til Kingdom Come höre ich immer wieder wahnsinnig gerne.

My favorites here are "Oliver's Army" and of course "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding" (forgiving the lack of an Oxford comma). Red vinylI literally shrieked with delight when I saw this in the shop today.
The Dead Milkmen’s first studio album, & the very first one I heard.
This was another band that I got into via one of my sister’s boyfriends in the late #80s .
He was quite obsessed with the band, & one summer, he was nice enough to make me a blank tape copy of this on side A, & Beelzebubba on side B.Short, hilarious songs rife with satire, and super scruffy in the best possible way.
You know, both of my sisters’ boyfriends in the 80s may have been shitty boyfriends, but they had excellent taste in music.
I learned of about 50 awesome bands from them collectively.My sister: “I’m breaking up with Matt.”
Me: “I beg you to reconsider.”
My sister: “No.”
Me: “Can you wait a few days after I can borrow some more tapes?”
