Shadow recorded the album with nothing but an Akai MPC60 II sampler, a few turntables, and a ton of obscure vinyl records, chopping tiny pieces of those records into entirely new compositions.

SO NEW in fact, that they don’t actually feel like samples. That’s how fucking good it is.

Any D.J.s out there or lovers of #HipHop should study the shit out of this record, and it needs to be in your record collection.

It’s higher plain kind of shit.
A living, breathing work of art.

I picked this up along with the previously posted Candy Snatchers record from a used bin for DIRT cheap.

A pretty good compilation here, with all of Goulden’s essential tracks on it, but he will always be remembered for the song “I'd Go The) Whole Wide World”, a song that was produced by Nick Lowe, and pretty recently had a resurgence when it appeared in a 2022 Expedia ad that featured Ewan McGregor.
I hope that the checks cleared, and both Eric and Ewan were very happy.

All that being said, there’s a handful of OTHER really fun tunes on here like “Take The Cash (K.A.S.H)”, “Let's Go To The Pictures “ and “Veronica”.

42 years ago today, September 22, 1984, Steve Wariner debuted at #79 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart w/ "Don't You Give Up on Love”. It went on to peak at #49 and spent a total of 10 weeks on the chart.

This was Steve Wariner's last single released on RCA Records before moving over to MCA Records and achieving incredible success with them into the early 1990s.

This album is synonymous with Autumn for me, and has been since the first time I heard it in the Fall of ‘92, when I dubbed it from my sister’s boyfriend’s tape collection.
So it was kinda fate that I finally found it on vinyl today, to help usher in my favorite season.

This was in my ears a lot at the beginning of each year of high school.
I had detention A LOT, and had a very long walk home from school after time served. I will always have a clear picture of walking up Oak St., this blasting in my ears, while the autumn New England leaves flew around.
