  1. These #Camellia are a little smaller than the many larger flowering heads that are blooming at the moment throughout #melbourne.

    But are no less impressive.

Vibrant colours and green foliage are most likely, in part, attributed to the rains of late and the glimpses of winter sunshine throughout the past fortnight.

    🙌🌸

  2. The #bees were loving this #Camellia!

Such pretty flowers these - and the hair-like filaments and thick anthers are stunning on this tree.

Spotted and snapped in #ashburton #Australia in the mid-afternoon sunshine.

  3. Good morning!! (Arvo, evening or night! 😉)

#NarcissusJonquilla, commonly known as jonquil or rush daffodil, is a bulbous flowering plant and is a species of daffodil.

It is native to Spain and Portugal, but very much at home here in #Melbs.

Such a mood lifter, especially blooming during our winter months.

  4. Sometimes known as the #TasmanianFuscia this #CorreaBackhouseana is a species of shrub that is endemic to coastal (and near-coastal areas) of southern Australia.

It has elliptical to egg-shaped or round leaves that are densely hairy on the lower surface, and cylindrical to funnel-shaped, cream-coloured to pale green or red and yellow flowers.

And it’s not surprising this beauty can be found on the great State of #Tasmania, too!

This, with a bursting heart, is posted here for everyone, although is especially dedicated to the ‘@Lioness of Heart’ herself, who lives on the heart-shaped isle of #Tassie.

  5. Closeups of #bushdaisies 👇

#EuryopsPectinatus is often used as an urban garden plant, given their flowering periods are epic.

They grows best in full sun and well-drained deep soils. It’s not frost resistant unfortunately… and I read with interest every part of this plant is poisonous.

Also, this is not just one flower, but a composite of a number of tiny flowers which make up the yellow disc in the middle (ie their 'disc floret').

Love the bursts of yellow… makes me feel good to view such simple, yet complex beauty.

  6. My coffee spot had these gorgeous
#peruvianlily on the tables this morning, albeit cut flowers.

I like them to stay on the plant and in the ground, however there’s nothing more cheery than seeing these things any which way.

    Gorgeous.

Thanks guys! Coffee tasted oh so better this morning for it.

  7. Up at silly o’clock this morning for kids football.

Walking to the ground, we see some kind of ash, oak or maple variant (I know they’re everywhere in this suburb with their reds, oranges, yellows and greens!).

This one’s branches are covered with a bright green #moss, which appears to be a permanent feature in this little Gully reserve, adjoining a waterway not far away.

    Its #autumn leaves 🍁 🍂 are gorgeous.

All I can say, on this wet, soggy morning is… thank goodness the early sun is out!! 🌞

  8. A domestic #olivegrove consisting of a few hundred trees in #Centralvictoria #Australia… just after #dusk.

These will be ready to pick soon.

The trees will be subject to a machine that will ‘shake’ each of them one by one carefully (and with love!), so that the olives drop on a mat and scooped up into a hopper.

This machine is called a ‘shaker’, funny enough!

We’ve had many a year prior, with dozens of peeps from near and far coming to pick for a few hours over a weekend - and rewarded with a hearty spread, vino and cheer.

Loads of strangers turn up to participate.

Olives go off to a small processing plant nearby and come back as oil. Loads of rain last year which means a bumper crop this year.

This lot will yield between 1000 - 2000 litres this year I think…

    Pretty cool!

  9. #Warburton is beautiful this time of year.

This is a pic of a public garden aligning the #YarraRiver on a cool #autumn day.

Cloudy, overcast and around 15 degree’s C (60F). Pretty cold, but I’m welcoming the change of season with open arms given the obvious ‘visual’ spoils on offer!

That’s #MountVictoria in the background. The Yarra River (medium to high, flowing steadily) is to the left of shot on 3rd pic.

  10. A lone and late blooming orange flower, alongside the flowing waters of the #YarraRiver, #Warburton #Australia.

    My bud @Witchy_Minx tells it’s a #Freesia.

She mentioned at the time they normally bloom mid to late October. Now is the time to be planting the bulbs, so they flower in the Spring.

    This one’s obviously a ring-in!

    Gorgeous huh?

    🙏🧡

    #Altext included.

    Edit; it’s suggested, this flower is a #watsonia - TY 👏👍🧡

  11. #banksia marginata… also known as the #silverbanksia, is a woody shrub in the plant (a #Banksia) found throughout much of southeastern Australia.

The yellow inflorescences (flower spikes) bloom from late summer to early winter. The flower spikes fade to brown and then grey and develop woody follicles which drop seeds.

You can see this one, pictured in #Warburton #Australia - and the various inflorescence stages. Some are blooming beautifully, whilst others are almost at the seeding stage.

I was taken with this shrub… it was growing in a public reserve in the centre of town.

    Just gorgeous!

  12. #Maples are turning red during this early #autumn period in #melbourne #Australia!

What deep and delicious colours we’re seeing around the burbs at present.

Seeing this small but impressive #mapletree on an #ashburton #Australia nature strip a couple of days ago, made my heart race.

    With simplicity, comes undeniable beauty.

  13. The ID app tells me this is yet another #Hibiscus in bloom!

#HibiscusMutabilis, also known as the Confederate rose, Dixie rosemallow, cotton rose or cotton rosemallow, is usually a plant grown for its showy flowers. And I can see why!!

Originally native to southern China, it is now found on all continents except Antarctica.

#Melburnians are being treated to a visual feast atm, as they grow sensationally here in suburban Victoria!

This one was photographed in #ashburton #Australia.

  14. Hylotelephium spectabile is a flowering plant in the stonecrop family Crassulaceae. It is native to China and Korea.

Its common names include showy stonecrop, iceplant, and butterfly stonecrop. And they were growing in abundance (spotted Sunday) in #Ashburton #Australia.

    So so healthy looking.

To the touch they are firm and best described as a little ‘rough’… and ‘robustly sturdy’ 😂. That’s my technical term.

A little dry, like that of the smaller flower, sea lavender.

They look to me like tight-knit broccoli heads, and similar in size!

So attractive. I’m glad I stopped for this one, despite my boy’s protests of ‘not another flower, daaaaad!!’

  15. A #bougainvillea, still flowering strong.

The flower of the plant (usually a small white ‘bloom’) is is surrounded by a cluster of three or six bracts.

These bracts with the bright colours, come in many colours. This one, bright / vibrant red!!

    🙏♥️

  16. These are #rainboweucalyptus!

    Aka #Eucalyptusdeglupta or Rainbow Gums.

    These #gums are SO unique.

No… kids haven’t been defacing these gums with crayons or fluro-pens.

Their vibrant colours are all natural.

Ive featured these gorgeous #gums before, but have found a number of new pics to share… 👇

These are fair-dinkum real. And they’re absolutely stunning!!

🧐 Known facts about the #rainbowgum:

    - When a rainbow eucalyptus sheds its bark it reveals a neon green inner layer. Over time, as this layer is exposed to air, it ages into different colors. They display bright reds, oranges, blues, pinks and purples.

    - The different colours appear as different layers fall off, while other exposed areas begin aging.

    - Rainbow eucalyptus is the ONLY eucalyptus tree native to the #northernhemisphere.

    - They’re found mainly in the Philippines, New Guinea, and Indonesia.

  17. As part of the #VicGov (#victoriangovernment) train infrastructure upgrades and boom gate removal project, a good deal of the track is now located above… opened only a couple of years ago.

Capital works in #melbourne and surrounding inner and outer suburbs, including a comprehensive underground train tunnelling network to complement the existing tunnels in the city, have been under construction in varying stages near on ten years now.

It’s designed to remove congestion due to traffic stoppages at boom gate intersections, quicker commute times for public transport users and to open the growth corridor of the out SE suburbs for commuters to better access the surrounding suburbs and city.

    The bonus? New flora!

These dozen or so #crepemyrtle are flowering profusely and they bring up this otherwise dreary street enormously.

    Such a mood lifter.

  18. This is #sealavender. It’s just gorgeous!

I love the two coloured flowers of this plant. is a Mediterranean plant species in the family #Plumbaginaceae known for its papery flowers that can be used in dried arrangements.

These were firm to the touch, but giving. I’ve only seen them dried bar one time earlier in this season!

  19. Meet the #rainboweucalyptus.

    These #gums are unbeliebable.

Rainbow eucalyptus is the only eucalyptus tree native to the #northernhemisphere.

It’s found mainly in the Philippines, New Guinea, and Indonesia.

And funny enough, it is not native to #Australia!

  20. This beauties botanic name is #Schotiabrachypetala, the #weepingboerbean.

    It’s from the legume ‘family’.

It’s native to #Africa, south of the #Zambezi River, where it occurs at middle altitudes.

This gorgeous thing’s is an ornamental tree (no surprise!) grown in warmer regions and is known for its nectar that drips from its flowers, which attracts a range of birds and insects.

This grows proudly in #Melbourne’s #botanicgardens.

  21. #olives (Olea europaea) are natives of the #mediterranean parts of #asia and #africa and have been in cultivation for thousands of years.

There is archeological evidence that indicate olives were grown in #crete as early as 3500 BC and olives are some of the oldest living trees in #europe with a few believed to be well over 1,000 years old.

These 500 or so #olivetrees on the farm produce well over 1000 litres of oil, after being picked and pressed nearby.

It’s a young #olivegrove; about 25 years old but has produced a bumper crop during most of those years. Draught however, impacts yield from year to year.

Fruit will start to appear in the coming weeks and harvest will be late March, through to April. There’s usually a large window of opportunity to pick olives in #centralvictoria #Australia. D#And it’s all dependent on weather and the development of fully ripened #olives 🫒

Picking has always been a festive event with people from near and far coming to participate. Once all the hard work is done, food, drink and merriment normally follows!
