From the Family #Rosaceae is this vibrant fruiting tree. These are eveywhere and displaying red, in abundance throughout our city at the moment.
These are native to the Himalayas.
This one however, is growing in the front yard of an #ormond home, #melbourne, #Australia.
It’s been raining this morning so the fruit and green leaves are shining in the sun, that has just punched through the clouds.
The red fruits (called pomes) appear in autumn, and hang about well into winter if not eaten by the hungry birds.
Wonder what they taste like? 🤔

I’m not even going to try to identity this one, as the ID app provided around a dozen possibilities.
But the common theme is that it’s likely to be from the #Rosaceae (#rose) family. (EDIT; appears plenty of advice that this is likely a #Hawthorn of some sort 🤔, perhaps. Thanks for the comments 👏👍).
The fruit on this is the size of the smallest blueberry you sometimes get in a punnet. Cute-as!

#Mirabilis, is a species of flowering plant native to the southwestern United States from Arizona to Texas and northern Mexico.
These pics were taken on a warm, sunny mid morning in #McKinnon#Australia and I was perplexed why these flowers appeared ‘subdued’ in nature.
Compared to the many I saw this day, they were slightly closed whereas all other species of flowers were open and displaying prominently, pointing towards the sunshine.
Now I know the answer!
It is night-flowering!! That is, they tend to come out in the latter day and evening. And they bloom at night.
The flowers are mostly white, although there was an eclectic mix of colours here, strongly scented (yes, they smelt divine) and they’re long and narrow in form, approaching 17 centimeters in maximum length. Most of these were around 10 cm.
They’re beautiful.
