  1. Light green hairy #moss formations on branches are typical here at the peak of Mount Donna Buang, in the #Victorian #HighCountry.

I think it may just qualify as a #mosstodon display of art!

We were up in the clouds; 4 deg C at mid afternoon a week ago.

Although soon, temperatures will fall below zero and this mountain will be covered in snow.

It’s a tourist destination here at the peak of #MountDonnaBuang, especially for families and kids who come and visit from #melbourne for day trips and weekends.

There’s a toboggan run only a few metres away from where these pics were taken.

No wonder #moss grows prolifically at the peak!

  2. #Warburton is beautiful this time of year.

This is a pic of a public garden aligning the #YarraRiver on a cool #autumn day.

Cloudy, overcast and around 15 degree’s C (60F). Pretty cold, but I’m welcoming the change of season with open arms given the obvious ‘visual’ spoils on offer!

That’s #MountVictoria in the background. The Yarra River (medium to high, flowing steadily) is to the left of shot on 3rd pic.

  3. A lone and late blooming orange flower, alongside the flowing waters of the #YarraRiver, #Warburton #Australia.

    My bud @Witchy_Minx tells it’s a #Freesia.

She mentioned at the time they normally bloom mid to late October. Now is the time to be planting the bulbs, so they flower in the Spring.

    This one’s obviously a ring-in!

    Gorgeous huh?

    🙏🧡

    #Altext included.

    Edit; it’s suggested, this flower is a #watsonia - TY 👏👍🧡

  4. #banksia marginata… also known as the #silverbanksia, is a woody shrub in the plant (a #Banksia) found throughout much of southeastern Australia.

The yellow inflorescences (flower spikes) bloom from late summer to early winter. The flower spikes fade to brown and then grey and develop woody follicles which drop seeds.

You can see this one, pictured in #Warburton #Australia - and the various inflorescence stages. Some are blooming beautifully, whilst others are almost at the seeding stage.

I was taken with this shrub… it was growing in a public reserve in the centre of town.

    Just gorgeous!

  5. #Proteacynaroides, also called the #kingprotea, is a distinctive member of Protea, having, apparently… the largest flower head in the genus.

The species is widely distributed in the southwestern and southern parts of South Africa.

This one was growing in abundance in #OakleighSouth #Australia on a busy road and Ive been observing it from a far for a week now.

It’s now perfect for a glorious photograph or two. So I didn’t waste this opportunity to share this beauty.

  6. What a glorious #PortlandRose bush, growing in the inner side of this residential fence.

I love how the petals turn on themselves in curls, and the vibrant pink surface that attracted me to take a good look.

Had a smell too, up close… they were aromatic with a fresh ‘rose’ smell - that characteristic aroma that brings back flooding memories of childhood and times past.

What a treat of the senses.

  7. #Lagerstroemia (also crepe myrtle, or crepeflower) is native to the Indian Subcontinent and also to Southeast Asia, China, Korea and Japan.

I believe my ID app has identified this correctly. I couldn’t get close to this one as it was set back in the front garden of its home in #Gardenvale #Australia.

But from afar it caught my eye and it certainly has the splendour fitting to share with the good folk of #mastodon!

  8. This #bouganvillea is nearing the end of its cycle - it was a flourishing beauty, an early bloomer about a month ago and I only saw the top section from the footpath back then.

But noticed a little gap in the pailing just now which revealed the full body of this tree. Hope I haven’t imposed on the owners (privacy). As such I won’t note it’s location.

I’ll find my original post now and retoot so you can compare before versus after (found original toot from a month ago, just reblogged it for comparison - see above post 👆…)

    Still eye catching though 🙏💖

  9. Portland roses are in bloom, yes they are! And they’re tiny and just spectacular.

These were taken in a public garden bed in #balaclava #Australia and are happy little Vegemite’s

Hope you enjoy just as I did, just now…

  10. I noticed this #PortlandRose bush over a period of a few days and I just hadn’t had time to stop. But eventually I did!

And I am so glad because up close, it was one of the most aromatic and visually pleasing roses I have been in the presence of, this summer.

Teeming with pollinating #bees this beautiful bush was the feature of this suburban garden.

I can still smell it now.
