In the meantime, I am finishing up preparing to run The Valley of Flowers post-Arthurian apocalypse campaign using @yochaigal's Cairn 2e role playing game.
We did character creation the other day and these last few chapters of Flowers have blown me away with all the strange and fantastical elements that my family is going to get to interact with. It's going to be a lot of fun and I can't wait to get started.

My understanding is that they both will maintain the affordable price points that Yochai is known for.
My POD copies of #Cairn1e came from Lulu and I am very happy with the surprisingly good quality.

Maybe connected to my re-reading _Fellowship of the Ring_ (which involves a lot of wandering around weird forests) but the more I read the second edition of #Cairn #cairn2e the more I think it's amazing stuff. 1e could reasonably be criticised for being a bit sparse on direction and theme but 2e not only has terrific backgrounds but also some of the best GM and prep advice around - including examples of play, which many modern games lack, to their detriment.
Plus, free.

I plan on running Barkeep on Borderlands in the near future (like half a year from now, minimum, considering our pace) and also maybe try again with some #NSR campaign but for the love of me I don't know which system to choose.
BotB will probably go on Troika! as I want to finally test it. And then? #DURF #cairnrpg #Cairn2e #Octave or #TroikaRPG are my contenders for this experiment, somewhat more epic campaign in low power mid weirdness fantasy.

Having received the previews of the Cairn 2e PDFs, I'm really looking forward to putting the books next to all the other games I never get a chance to play 🙃

I actually don't need "another ruleset" I am more interested in streamlined processes to play old school adventures. I really love the #intotheodd system. Also taking a look into the #dolmenwood rules and trying to decide for one ruleset.

I just saw (and backed) Cairn 2e Kickstarter that must have launched recently!
It’s a cool light weight fantasy system built on the Into the Odd engine with its own twists.
I ran a 1-shot in 1e against a giant enemy crab in a dungeon and it was a blast.
