It’s #TuneTuesday and the theme is #WaitingSongs
An odd but great song.

#TuneTuesday this week is #WaitingSongs, and since I already did that Rentals one, here's a Weezer one. Always loved this song. My band in the mid 90s used to cover it.

The #TuneTuesday theme is #WaitingSongs. I feel like I've used this one recently for another theme, but it's a great song and not enough people listen to Wussy, so it's my top pick.
Wussy, "Waiting Room" (2011)

Kajto - Atendata Karavano ("A Waited-For Caravan")
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUe4wvSqMao&list=OLAK5uy_ndt0muWs5tvjAbBp1q3cyutPWIqmf37rAI've linked to the whole album playlist for this one, as it's only the first movement of the whole first side of the cassette (up to "Postrigardata Karavano"), which tells the story of a travelling puppet theatre troupe that appears in town one day, gives a performance and then leaves. This song is about how all the children were waiting expectedly for the performers to arrive.

#TuneTuesday (Aug 25)
The 1992 OPM folk song “Kanlungan” (“Refuge”) by Filipino singer Noel Cabangon, as part of the band Buklod, is one of my comfort songs and brings up a bit of nostalgia whenever I hear it.

A typical #80s polished pop / #HairMetal track from the 1987 peak of ridiculous glam outfits, but the guitar solo by #VitoBratta at 02:19 sure is something to remember!

CW: Long Tune Tuesday post
En el Muelle de San Blas - Maná
Ella despidió a su amor
Él partió en un barco en el muelle de San Blas
Él juró que volvería
Y empapada en llanto, ella juró que esperaría
Miles de lunas pasaron
Y siempre ella estaba en el muelle, esperandoInteresting background with this one. The story is that a woman goes to the jetty to see off her love, who she is to marry in a matter of days. He never returns, presumed killed at sea, but she keeps waiting for him - for 41 years. On Sundays she goes to the jetty, dressed as a bride, to receive him. The locals called her La loca de San Blas (the crazy woman of San Blas).
Not so fast, my friend! In an interview Fher says that he met and talked to the woman in Puerto Vallarta after a night of partying. He says the waiting did NOT happen at San Blas and that he used that location because it sounded better than the actual place - Los Muertos beach in Puerto Vallarta.
There are different versions of the story - that her love was a fisherman lost in a storm, or that he was killed in an auto accident she never learned about. We have to believe he was a fisherman for the song to make sense.
The town of San Blas has erected a statue to honor the woman, which is now a big tourist draw.
Here are some articles in English about the story:
