I am re-reading that Nikolas Rose 1996 piece on the death of the social and I keep having to stop reading and basically gasp at the accuracy of his diagnosis of the key problematics at the heart of #healthpromotion, my field of practice.

When I started in HIV prevention the org CEO sat me down and set me the task of understanding how gay men think about HIV risk, citing Deb Lupton's work as my starting point. This perfectly exemplifies Rose's point about recruiting new forms of expertise.
